I live in the fan in Richmond.
I didn't know you lived there?

I have to go there for work every once in a while, or at least I did, it might change next year.
Yep. I went to VCU too. Born and raised from Richmond.

Well we gonna be neighbors! I'll take this to PMs.

Need help guys. Currently a junior in high school and gonna start looking at colleges in state for 2015. My top choice is VCU and I was wondering how good is that school, if they accept average GPAs (low 3.0s) and so on.

I think low 3.0s will get you in. Are you taking AP or IB?

I got in with a 3.5 no AP or IB and a 1690 SAT score. Just do your best to raise your GPA for the remainder of your high school career.

I got in to VCU with only a 2.6 high school GPA but I was helped by a 1470 on my SATs. That was way back in 2001 though I think they have risen their standards a bit. If you have a 2.8-2.9 you might be alright. You could probably go to J Sarge for a semester or two and then transfer in if need be (most credits transfer from Sarge), also J Sarge is cheaper.

- btw I just realized that they have since changed the SAT grading scale, back when I took it a 1600 was a perfect score.

- double edit, man my brain is not working today, just realized you said your GPA is low 3s, I think you should be alright.

Yeah, I got like an 1800 on my SAT and was really lost cause I though 1600 was the highest you could get.

I think the top is 2400 now? Not that SAT's show much.

You are correct the test is very culturally biased.

Also when I was in high school the highest grade you could get was a 4.0. Now-a-days they have advanced classes where the grades can be worth higher than a 4.0.

Its not even that, its just an endurance test more then an aptitude test.
