Seattle Seahawks

VS

Minnesota Vikings

Sunday, November 17, 1:25 PM (PT) on FOX
CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Washington

Injuries
Seahawks
OUT: Browner

QUESTIONABLE: McDaniel

PROBABLE: Coleman, Harvin, Unger, Lynch, Hill, Farwell, Bryant, Chancellor, Giaconimi, Johnson, Irvin, Sherman, Clemons, Lane

Keys to the Game
Arrow Gap Discipline - Seattle looked refined against the Falcons, but it's going to be crucial against Adrian Peterson to maintain our gap control
Arrow Run a balanced offense
Arrow Generate pass rush when afforded the opportunity. We need to get more consisent there

Players to Watch

Seahawks
Arrow Bobby Wagner - Against the Rams and Bucs he was awful at taking on blocks. He showed better against the Falcons and needs to continue to do so (HM to KJ Wright here too)
Arrow Percy Harvin - Returning to play his old team
Arrow Marshawn Lynch - We'll want to control the tempo of this game and Lynch will be eager to show off against the back he came into the NFL with

Vikings
Arrow Adrian Peterson - Duh. The only way they have a chance at winning is if he goes off. He must be contained.
Arrow Christian Ponder - If we shut down the run, he'll be forced to pass. His deep ball has been bad this year

Game plan is simple...capitalize in the red zone and stop AP

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/seahawks/2013/11/14/seahawks-thursday-injury-report-harvin-a-full-participant/

Quote:
Receiver Percy Harvin was listed as a full participant at Seattle’s practice today, the most definitive indication yet that he will play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Harvin, who had hip surgery Aug. 1., had been listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday.

That he was able to go fully Thursday is one of the main things the Seahawks wanted to see as they make their decision on his availability for Sunday’s game.

This week should be all about stopping Adrian Peterson. He ran for 170+ against us last year and we still won, but we don't need a repeat of that game.

No one else on the Vikings offense is even worth an honorable mention at this point.

As stated in the opening post, gap discipline will be essential. We can't just give AP open running lanes. If he can make plays out of nothing, then you just tip your hat to him. But what you want is to have all 11 guys on the same page playing disciplined defense.

On offense I want to see balance. Definitely want to establish the run game, but I also want to see the playbook get opened up just like it was last week in Atlanta. I'm not a fan of gimmick plays particularly, but seeing the deep ball to Kearse result in a Touchdown was really nice.

This week should also be the long awaited debut of Percy Harvin. I'd like to see him get worked into the offense slowly, maybe a couple short passes early and then maybe feed him the ball more in the 2nd half. If the score gets out of hand, then don't play him in the 4th quarter. He'll probably be eager to go full speed right away, but the coaches need to watch how the adrenaline he uses early affects him later on.

I also hope we all get to see Okung, Breno, and Unger back on the field, even if it's in limited action. I would love to rotate those guys in, but still keep Bailey, Bowie, and Jean-Pierre sharp by playing them. Especially Bailey, he can rotate in for Sweezy as well, so he should keep seeing plenty of action.

In all, this is game the 'Hawks should win handily, but as the past has shown, this team is subject to let downs. I'm hoping to see the full intensity of the 'Hawks and hopefully an easy win.

Yea, this game will go a long way in proving whether or not we can really stop the run. Best RB in the league and they have NOTHING else on offense.

this is a cool stat from reddit:

"Seattle has now gone 36 games without losing by more than 7 points, the second-longest streak since the merger

Since a 23-13 loss at Dallas on November 6, 2011, the Seahawks have not lost a single game by more than a touchdown. We're 26-10 during that stretch, with the losses coming by 6, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 4, 3, 2 and 6 points. In that 36 game span, we've won 15 games by 8+ points, won 11 by 1-7 points, lost 10 by 1-7 points, and lost zero by any more than that.

This might sound like a bum stat, but interestingly, 36 games is the second-longest streak since the AFL-NFL merger 43 years ago (I don't have easily accessible score information from before that). The longest? Green Bay from 2009 to 2011, who went 45 games without losing by more than a touchdown.

    Team............. Strk End Date.. Record
    Green Bay..... 45 1/1/2012.. 36-9
    Seattle.......... 36 ????......... 26-10
    Minnesota...... 35 1/9/2000... 27-8
    San Francisco 32 11/18/1990 30-2
    San Francisco 30 11/1/1992.. 21-9
    San Francisco 30 12/24/1995 24-6
    San Francisco 29 10/6/1985.. 25-4
    New England 29 1/13/2013.. 23-6

That will be hard to tell because Harvin is probably going to be limited with his snaps his first few games.

Looks like Harvin, Okung, Unger and Breno all set to make their returns in this game. Should be the perfect tune up before the bye. Huge game against the saints in 3 weeks

Worst case scenario i see us going 13-3 but Im really expecting 14-2. Pretty crazy to think we have a shot at that type of season.

To me the 49ers game is the only one that poses a big time lose potential. All the other I expect a W.

We lucked out because the teams that were expected to be a problem regressed but this team is pulling wins out of it's behind (Bucs game).

Ya we've had our fare share of breaks and wins we didnt deserve. But we've shown the ability to go out and dominate teams, were streaky at best right now but its adding up to wins so its hard to complain.

Gotta hope getting everyone healthy and adding Percy will get everything clicking going into the playoffs and if we can pull off home field thru the playoffs were in incerdible position.

Definitely. The fact that this team can make a big play in the 4th quarter (Texans) to get the win is important down the stretch. If we can get home field advantage in the playoffs, the SB is a realistic sight.
