Alright gentlemen, its boring bye week and my coaching season came to an end on Friday so I have ample free time on my hands so I feel a mock is in order.

Key Cut- Wells, Dahl

Key Re-Sign- Saffold for his youth, versatility and strength. He will be starting RG.

1a) Jake Matthews, OT, TAMU

I believe that teams will be looking for QBs and pass rushers such as Clowney and Barr. I feel that we will be in position to land Matthews, although I would be completely fine with a trade down and taking Cyrus Kouandjio who is an athletic monster.

1b) Haha Clinton-Dix, FS, Bama

Deep zone center fielder that we have been sorely missing, also a very solid tackler that will prevent the big play TD.

2) David Yankey, OG, Stanford

Will complete the powerful athletic OL to protect Sam and open up running lanes for Stacey.

3) AJ McCarron, QB, Bama

thats not him... OK really, AJ McCarron

whoops

Reunites with his old center, game manager who fits the system perfectly.

4) Travis Raciti, DT, San Jose St

A little under the radar, but the dude is a monster with a motor. He could be a very solid rotational guy for Langford and Brockers.

5) EJ Gaines, CB, Mizzou

A lil somethin somethin for you local guys, CB depth makes sense even with McGee pick last year. Saw the reverse punt return, nice.

6) JC Copeland, FB, LSU

*Rick Ross "HUH!"*, a big powerful fullback that we lack.

7) Michael Dyer, RB, Louisville

A guy with talent that has bounced around, lets give him a shot.

Depth Chart-

QB- Bradford, McCarron
RB- Stacey, Richardson, Cunningham/Dyer
FB- Copeland
TE- Cook, Kendricks, Harkey
X- Givens, Bailey
S- Austin
Z- Pettis, Quick
LT- Long, Matthews
LG- Yankey, Williams
C- Jones, Smith
RG- Saffold, Smith
RT- Matthews, Barksdale

LE- Long, Hayes
UT- Langford, Raciti
NT- Brockers, Cudjo, Raciti
RE- Quinn, Sims
SLB- Dunbar, Spoon
MLB- JL55, Spoon
WLB- Tree, Ray Ray
RCB- JJ, Finnegan, Gaines, McGee
SCB- Finnegan, McCleod, McGee
FS- Clinton-Dix, McCleod
SS- TJ Mac, McCleod
LCB- Tru, Finnegan, Gaines, McGee

Good mock, the first 2 rounds would be amazing...

I'd love to see Saffold come back, love what he offers when he's on the field. However, I don't see Saffold coming back to play OG for us. There be a OT needy team out there that will give him a better deal...

Also, I don't think EJ Gaines is going to last till the 5th. Love the Dyer pick...

Nice job...

I don't know if he was really the starter since he was splitting time with Onterio McCalebb, but yes he was the 2011 BCS Championship MVP and is the person you are thinking of.

Great draft, but the odds of us cutting Wells or Dahl or resigning Saffold are extremely unlikely.

I question Dyer...he can't get on the field anymore for Louisville. Must be something up.

But it's a very solid draft. Not sure we'll get Jake Matthews anymore.

I'll probably put out a mock soon with a spin on the typical take.

As I have said before, Wells is a major decision to make this offseason. But Dahl is a no-brainer at this point, making too much money for what he was putting on the field as it was, and now he has yet another injury and will be 33 by the start of next season.

Its time to move on from that contract at the very least, I wouldnt mind having him back at the Vet Minimum, but not at $4m.

Pretty good with what we are working with.
1a). Hopefully Matthews will fall to us, if not we can grab Lewan or Cyrus Kouandjio.
1b). with this pick I am stuck with 3 things depending on where we fall. We need a safety, but with the class not being very strong this might be a value pick. Here is where we could land a true #1 receiver. These are my 3 options:
- sign Jarius Byrd / TJ Ward / Bernard Pollard in free agency, draft Marquis Lee / Mike Evans / Sammy Watkins
- sign a young, big time wide receiver like Hakeem Nicks / Eric Decker / Golden Tate / Jeremy Maclin and draft HaSean Clinton-Dix
- sign a veteran receiver to play 1-3 years and teach the young kids like Anquan Boldin / Santana Moss and still draft Hasean Clinton-Dix

And the last thing is the QB situation. The Rams will stick with Bradford for the year, but they should grab one in the 3-5 rounds. But it all depends who is there. I would like them to take McCarron, but not until round 4 or 5. If a quarterback like Tajh Boyd / Derek Carr / Mettenberger are left in round 3 I would love it

I would be perfectly happy with Kouandjio.

Furthermore, trust me if we somehow got Marqise Lee I would be the happiest man alive, but we need a good young FS like Clinton-Dix who would be a much cheaper option than any of the FA options.

Also I would be cool with any of the qb options I just think McCarron fits our system the best.

From what I've heard, he couldn't pick up the playbook/protections fast enough and kind of got passed because of...

I'd still take a flier on him, he has immense talent. Plus, It's a 7th round pick. No harm, no foul if it didn't work out...

I'd take a shot on someone else personally unless he tears it up at the combine.

i really like the first two rounds.
i don't see why we need a fullback. i dig our two h-backs system.
i can see why fisher loves cory harkey.

Not a bad draft at all but it would be depressing to go into next season with the Givens/Pettis/Quick combo on the outside. If Sammy Watkins is there at either first round pick they should take him. Matthews is a nice pick but I don't think tackle is as big an issue as perceived. Guys who can win on the outside is a much bigger issue with the Rams.

EJ Gaines most likely won't last until the 5th...it's difficult to find a team without a need at corner and he's too good to last that long.
