Denver fan in peace.

Now, your QB, Alex Smith, is having an eerily similar season to two years ago with the 49ers, of course that year ended 13-3 and championship game defeat.

Onto the next season and hw continued to impress, but after missing a couple of weeks through injury, many believed(including his coach) that he had taken the 49ers as far as his ability allowed. That Niner team is very similar to the current KC team. Elite RB, good OL, and physically dominant defense.

All they needed was their QB, and 18 months earlier they'd traded up in the second round to get Collin Kaepernick.

Now, your current team will hit this same snag. Even if you win the superbowl this year with Smith(I personally think it's highly unlikely, but I'm a Broncos fan so need to toe a strict line in here so I don't get accused of trolling) there will come a point in the next year or two when the only possible improvement this team can make is at the Quarterback position.

Do you guys see a big trade up next year to land your next signal caller?

Yeah, it's gotta be Tyler "Big Arm" Bray. Impressed in his final 2 pre-season games, has done amd said all the right things and looks to be changed (maybe due to being UDFA) from the immature, cocky kid we saw in Tennessee.

I think once Alex's contract is up, its Brays job to lose imo.

I'd love to see Bray be the guy, but the chances are very slim. I do not think Daniel is either BTW. I don't think we're going to make a move this draft for a QB either though. We have too many guys hitting UFA to look for a QB. Now if Manziel or someone else falls to the mid to high 20s where we will at a minimum be, there's a chance, but even then unlikely.

If Smith doesn't show improvement the rest of this year, and put on a game like he did against the Saints in the playoffs, I'll probably be lobbying for a QB at some point.

Reality is he'll most likely have all of next year to try and cement his position before serious thoughts of replacing him take place.

John Pigskin, Tyler Bray, and Andy Reid will all co-exist together in some fashion and become a dynasty

Hopefully, one of our first two picks next draft.

So considering the heated debate we had back when we traded 2 picks for smith. How many are now happy with the trade vs still against it? I am for it, high price but paid what we had to and 9-0 is 9-0 whether pretty or not.

Well Kaepernick has not developed at all

That's a consolation for me

Definitely fine with the trade so far. If he gets us a playoff win that'll shut everybody up I think.

I still worry were not going to be able to compete with the legit teams because our offence will hold us backů

If that turns out to be the case the Smith trade doesn't seem worth it. Who knows, I'm just hoping we can keep it close and Smith has the clutch gene. The offence scares me tho.

I don't seen Kaepernick as an improvement over Alex Smith so I don't think we need a Kaepernick.. I'm sure Alex will improve as time goes on.. Andy Reid knows how to do that

At the moment it's Bray.

Alex is probably gonna get a new contract after this year though, and be our guy for the next 2-3 years if not more. So we have time to figure it out. I bet Reid inquired about Foles this offseason but they probably weren't willing to part ways with him for anything reasonable.

I have to imagine coming in to next season the FO wants to see Bray beat out Daniel. He's more talented than Daniel, better arm, accuracy a wash.

Would love to see Bray with starters but that won't happen.

This. Look at all the running qbs last year who made noise (outside of Wilson). RGIII is having some problems (maybe due to injury, maybe not). And Kaepernick looks downright awful this year. I have a friend who's a die hard 9ner fan and I always ask him after every week "You guys want Smith back yet or what?". Colin Kaepernick outside of the Jaxsonville + GB games has been a bottom tiered qb this year. Yes, worse than Smith.

Good topic guys, but I think most are missing the obvious here....an improved O line with a group of young, very young guys will make ANY QB a step better. We're close to getting a gell with these guys. I'd vote on a 'wait and see' approach with the OL before jumping on any other QB's band wagon. It all starts up front....somebody else said that once, I believe!! Wink

BUT....love to see Bray continue to improve. Got all the tools.
