Anybody think it would be worth it to bring K-Will back on the cheap to be part of the line rotation?

Depth is unproven, having a vet like him could be a benefit for Zimmer's rotation. Depends on what he's asking $$$ wise. I don't know how he graded out last year. Know he played better from the NT spot I believe.

Its not like we have anybody thats really any good behind Joseph and Floyd. I'd consider it.

I'm all for it. Bring him in!

I'm okay with either way it turns out, whether they sign him or not. They do have decent depth behind Joseph and Floyd with Tom Johnson, Fred Evans, and Chase Baker (as well as the ability of Everson to move inside on 3rd down), plus they also might have a decent player in Stephen (who knows?). He can certainly help in veteran depth, but they don't have to be desperate.

PFF had him as the highest graded player on the entire defense last year, slightly ahead of Robison. He was the best DL against the run, slightly ahead of Griffen.

It's not so much that he excelled at NT, but that he was way better than Guion, and Floyd looked better lining up next to him than anyone else all year.

Wouldn't mind seeing him come back and play backup / rotational UT, instead of Tom Johnson. Evans can stay at backup NT. Either Randall or Stephen (probably Stephen) could be the developmental 5th DT. Without him, if Floyd gets hurt or fails to improve, the options are very limited at UT: Johnson's a journeyman and Evans has been playing NT since 2008.

UT: Floyd, Williams
NT: Joseph, Evans, Stephen

The curse of Harvin?

I like the idea of adding Williams as a rotational player. The depth at dt is putrid. Williams should benefit at around 25 percent of the snaps with Floyd around 75 percent. Williams should take run downs as Floyd is a poor run defender.

By "run downs" do you mean short yardage situations?

Because even though the term doesn't apply these days, 1st and 2nd down are often still referred to as the "running downs".

Teams are statistically more likely to run on 1st and 2nd down versus third down.

I would be curious to see what the run % is when comparing 1st down vs 2nd down. 2nd and less than five is probably more of a run down, 2nd and greater than five is likely a pass down.

1st down will mostly be determined by watching film and determining tendencies of your opponent.
