“Justin needs support right now,” Caldwell said in a teleconference with local media around 5:30 p.m. Friday, shortly after the suspension was announced. “This has never really been about Justin Blackmon the player. It’s been about Justin Blackmon the person.

“It’s not in our nature to just turn our back on one of our members that needs our help.”

Dave knows what he's doing.

Too bad Alfie will keep pushing the "he's going to be cut" narrative simply because he doesn't like him. Just like that narrative-filled Anger article today.

I thought Alfie was pro-Blackmon. He's been one of the few that I remember not chastising him for the previous offense.

As for the Anger thing, my favorite part was the neglection of the fact that Anger was #1 in the league in both gross and net before the coverage team allowed 2 TDs in one game (week 16 or 17, I forget).

Ideally, he spends the next several months getting treatment, gets out of whatever center he's going to and then chooses to go to a support group and classes throughout the offseason. Through the whole process, he stays in contact with Dave, Gus, Shad and NFL higher ups. He and his counselor come up with a long term plan that includes standard weekly/bi-weekly drug testing as well as continued counseling and classes. If he does all of that, shows growth and continues to be a great person in the community, I could see him getting reinstated by week 3 next year.

I thought I remembered him criticizing the selection. Either way, right now he's pushing the idea that Blackmon will (and should be) cut pretty hard.

My favorite part of the article was him mentioning how many returns have been allowed, but not mentioning that the return yards average is amongst the lowest in the NFL.

This sucks, dudes.

Hey, maybe him and Kenny Britt can be a great duo at Burger King together. How many chances does one need?

I cannot be the only person wondering this, but

Does anyone know exactly what "substance" was "abused" to cause him another suspension?

Blackmon could be the second coming of Cris Carter.

HIPAA law means we'll never actually know.

I feel like he got his 3 offenses quicker than Britt, sadly Sad

Cris Carter 2.0.

I am gonna watch some highlights. Listen to Carter's pain and triumph in this video. Honestly tell me this video does not remind you of what Blackmon is going through right now?

Gus is in the press conference now, and the way he's speaking, it seems like (he isn't allowed to actually say much) the team knew Blackmon has a serious problem, but that they rallied around him to get him into treatment. The way the team is reacting, from GM down to players, it seems like if Justin can go through treatment and show he's developing away from his problems, that the team will welcome him back with open arms.

That's how a team should act towards their teammates.
