I gotta agree with Kyle here for one of the first times in my life. I do for see a time where we may need Fred Davis again this season.

Quote:
Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said last week that he was leaving open the possibility of Davis being productive for the team at some point this season.

I really expect there to come a time when Fred needs to help us, Shanahan said then. But its a week-to-week decision going into that game. We always decide based on personnel, coverages, what packages we need to use, what tight ends we want in certain situations. We felt better with Logan and Jordan with a lot of stuff we were doing. Niles is a really good special teams player for us who can also help us on offense. If it was my choice, I would dress four tight ends every week. But its not just about the offense. Youve got special teams. Youve got defense. Its a whole team and its tough to get four tight ends up. When were told we can only get three, its really on who we depend on for what we need to and who we can do better with.

Gonna have to wake him up first. Is it any wonder why Fred Davis can't beat out anyone for the job?

Maybe his contract and the money he will (or will not) take is the reason for him being benched.

And this is one of the reasons why we suck. No one is afraid of losing their job.

How is going from a starter to being deactivated and on the trade block the last two weeks, not losing your job?

Davis is more valuable to us, even if he's deactivated right now, then he would be if we traded him for a late round pick or if we cut him, just like Cooley back in 2010 and 2011. That's reality!

He's still getting a paycheck from the Redskins..so in effect -he hasn't "lost" his job ..Cutting him might open some eyes.

its because Jordan Reed and Davis play the same position. Jordan Reed is healthier, better, younger and part of our future.

Fred is older, coming off a major injury and isn't part of our future.

There's no reason to cut him though, because we could need him at some point

Like what?

Who's next rg3?

He's been our most inconsistent offensive player.

It's not going to happen and it's not wise.

If one of our other TEs gets hurt, you'll be thanking the day Shanahan kept Fred Davis.

Right....
You may need a viable receiving weapon AFTER you ensure he doesn't get a $500K bonus....
