#Eagles working the phones on the back of their roster. Patriots have a need at NT. 2 sides completed a deal for Isaac Sopoaga, per source

no word yet on compensation. Likely a late round or conditional pick.

A necessary move. Our run D is in dire need of help. Low risk could help out an area where we've lost Wilfork and temporarily Kelley.

I guess the Pats are just going to trust that the passing game will work out the kinks.

Just when the Pats team chef thought he caught a break with Wilfork and Vollmer down for the year, here comes 340 lbs of Sopoaga to ruin his day.

That's the same compensation Maroney got when the Pats traded him to the Broncos I think.

Soap literally did nothing after inking a 3-year $12M deal in the offseason. Played something like 30-40% of all snaps thus far. Happy we got something back for him and future cap relief.

Sopoaga was a DE backup/starter for the 49ers from 2004-2010. He was ok, just held his own at best never asked to do too much. Then in 2011 he went to NT and played really well. 2012 not so much and played about 30 percent of the snaps but we don't use the NT that much. I'm glad we didn't re-sign him for what the Eagles gave him (3 yrs 12 million ish). I think he was done after 2012... he's 32. Still had a decent career for a 4th rounder.

Nope, just not very good. Pretty much all he does is lean on the lineman infront of him.

Good riddance. He was terrible for Philly. Maybe he'll play better in the Pats' 4-3.

I think the Eagles just have a lot of young guys that were pushing for playing time. Soap is more of the big body that doesn't do anything great but nothing particularly poorly as well. He eats blockers and tries to create space for LBs to make plays. I never really noticed him on skates or getting blown off the ball but he doesn't really make any plays and is useless as a pass-rusher.

Well, that's pretty much the sort of player the Pats need right now. Joe Vellano has been getting blown up more often than a children's hospital in Syria.

This is a really good pickup for the pats. He's a great run stuffer and is about as consistent as they come. Not much of a pass rusher but he can play both nose and de in a 34. He's a space eater like wilfork. He's super strong, I think he set the record for bench press at the combine. really hard worker, good teammate, and like I said he's a better fit for a 34 than a 43. Nice pick up by the pats
