#Eagles working the phones on the back of their roster. Patriots have a need at NT. 2 sides completed a deal for Isaac Sopoaga, per source

Sopoaga spent his first 9 seasons in the league with the 49ers after being picked 4/104 in the 2004 draft.

The deal is apparently Sopoaga + Eagles 6th round pick for Pats 5th rounder.

Heard its a 5th for Sopoaga and a 6th. BB at it with his coaching bros again.

Signed a 3 year 11 mil contract this offseason.

Love it. Should be the long-awaited end of Vellano as a starter.

Just when the Pats team chef thought he caught a break with Wilfork and Vollmer down for the year, here comes 340 lbs of Sopoaga to ruin his day.

A much needed run stuffing NT for essentially a 7th is a great deal especially with the contract terms. Very happy. Knew nothing catastrophic was pending so these last two years with the "needed" move made its been good.

Since Wilfork went to IR Patriots gave up 646 total rush yards to Bengals, Saints, Jets & Dolphins (156.5 ypg)

@RoobCSN: Patriots responsible for $529,412 of Sopoaga's 2013 base of $1m. Eagles paid Sopoaga $2.75m bonus and $470,588 in 2013 base."

Expecting a 2012 Talib type of impact, meaning individual play is OK but impact on unit is large.

Yeah, Vellano has been getting blown up more often than a children's hospital in Syria.

According to the Philly fans in the News forum he's not done much this year. Have a hard time believing he won't be an immediate and immense up grade over Vellano in terms of stopping the run though.

Basically an even moderately competent DT is going to take a lot of pressure off a banged up rotation.

Surely they only get blown up once?

It's Syria. If something bad can happen there, you can be sure it'll happen many times over.

Yeah, all he needs to do is stand his ground for two downs out of three.

Vellano and Jones playing every snap was unsustainable.

I'm fine with Jones as the other starter for however much longer Kelly is out. But he's really more of a Mike Wright type sub rusher.
