Alas - I am the only one with the guts to post something about how the Broncos should trade for Jared Allen. It seems like there are two teams talking about a trade with JA. I think the Broncos are one of them. If I know John Elway, they are hammering out a new contract for JA; a reduction in pay, and a longer deal. I also think Jared Allen has secretly wanted to be a Bronco. He can totally rock the cowboy hat and boots anywhere he wants in Denver with out any side eyes...yet, I don't think he cares anyway.

I am usually against mid-season deals but this one I can get behind, for the right price. Allen is the type that wont cause locker room issues and should assimilate very well should he be traded mid season, that is a definate plus of going after him. The guy is at a point in his career where he just wants to win.
The downside is he has declined this year from top 3 pass rusher to simply great pass rusher.
But, the real issue here is we are a team that builds through the draft. I dont want to give up anything more than a 4th this year and a future pick for a guy that we could sign this offseason. And, I dont want to have the summer hit, give up a pick for him, then watch him either walk because he demands too much or see our team overpay (As they dont want to let him walk after dealing picks for him and only getting a half season of play out of it) and in turn allow some younger, as talented guys walk (DRC, I am looking at you). |

I could see him rock the cowboy hat and boots. I don't know if he'll be a Bronco though. I just don't know how the Broncos can afford him with all their upcoming FAs for next year. _________________

I am on the phone, so no link, but Gil Brand has tweeted that Denver has inquired about a trade for Allen.
Unrelated to the tweet, general consensus is that one would have to at least part with a conditional 3rd rounder for Allen as that would be what the Vikes could get for him in next year's FA. _________________ The situation is hopeless, but not serious. |

I take back my "I would only give up a 4th" remark. Throw them that 3rd rounder. Get it done. |

Ayers. But even should it happen Ayers would see PT, he's earned it with his play thus far. _________________

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that Allen would be willing to restructure as long as he gets out of Minneapolis. _________________ The situation is hopeless, but not serious. |

Given Elway's sketchy draft history in the mid rounds, I concur. _________________ The situation is hopeless, but not serious. |

Really? I seriously doubt Ayers would go to the bench over Wolfe. He has played better so far this year. I see this as moving Ayers to Wolfe's side and putting Allen where Ayers was playing. Wolfe is young, he will understand and learn from Allen. |
