With Bud passing it had me thinking on the times when the team was moving here.
We were the Tennessee Oilers and then the name change was proposed.

Here are a couple names I found digging around online that were in the running for our team name...

Tennessee Tuxedoes
Tennessee Pioneeers
Tennessee Bombers
Tennessee Vipers
Tennessee Tradition
Tennessee Fury
Tennessee Wolves
Tennessee Comanders
Tennessee Presidents
Tennessee ............Titans.

How would you like to be the Tennessee Tuxedoes? lol

Still don't see how Titans got it over that. Sure, there's the museum or whatever in Nashville and the ever trusty alliteration, but Tennessee has nothing in common with Titans.

Pioneers was a good one. The Dolly Partons, Gore Gang...

I got nothing. Don't know/care enough about middle and west Tennessee to incorporate them.

Glad it's the Titans. It's a great name that makes me think of dominance/power. Sad the team hasn't earned the right for the name over the years. I'm surprised they didn't do something with the whole music city scene.

Agreed. Of those mentioned above I like the Titans the best. Even though "Bombers" would've been kind of awesome!

I liked Copperheads and Vipers, but am glad it's Titans.

If you want alliteration, we could have gone with the Tennessee Twins.

I'd like to see what sort of logo we would have come up with.

For goodness sake the mascot is a freaking raccoon. Shocked Laughing

Ahh.. I wasn't hating. T-Rac is da dude to me every since I saw him eat a cheerleader. I was being sarcastic about what was Bud thinking not naming the team the mountain tops.

And the name T-Rac would still work even if we were the Tennessee Partons.

Every week we could be rooting for Big Jake and the Twins.
