According to depot, Steelers freed up about $1.5 mil by pushing $$ into next year.

Now Ike's cap charge is $12 mill next year...$5 mill dead and $7 mill saved if they cut him after the season.

Me thinks Ike gets a 2 year extension after this season.

My question is why are they freeing up cap room? Who's a potential target?

The team is going to have to extend Ike. The cap isn't going up. Like with Polamalu I hope it's a simple 2 year extension. I don't agree with these decisions.

Any thoughts on Jairus Byrd the player, not his contract?

Great ballhawk and instinctual player. Not great in run support. Havent seen him blitz much so not sure.

I would love to have him here, but some team will give him more than he is worth. He is good - very good....not great or elite as some Bills fans often try to act like he is.

Him and Shamarko would make a nice future duo, since I think Byrd could be that centerfield type safety and Shamarko could be used similarly to Troy.

We wont get him...just saying they'd probably make a nice young duo going forward.

And no, Im not saying Shamarko will definitely be good either...but I do think he will be at least a solid starter in a few years.

I wouldn't mind getting Byrd because he might cause the team to actually get turnovers.

How many times has this been addressed? The estimates given are usually accurate, and maybe they are off by like 1-3m. The cap is going to be fairly stagnant for the time being.

Maybe this is about more than we think it is. The Steelers have some issues, maybe Ike restructured because Pittsburgh plans on pulling a "Pirate" and trading for someone who can help us out prior to the Trade Deadline?

How many times was it addressed? I haven't heard anything being released by the league on the issue or any estimate.

I read an estimate back in February that suggested it'd be 122M

I haven't heard anything since.

So it's going to go down?

I can't find anything anywhere which makes me wonder how anyone can act like they know for certain

If that sounds amazing, consider this: The salary cap in 2009 was $123 million, higher than what is projected to be in 2015.

It's not going down next year, but it's not going to go up much, either. From my understanding it's not going to increase significantly until 2016. It is not going to go up much at all next year.

That's what I read, a LONG time ago, no, I can't imagine it'll actually go down. But I also have a feeling it won't go up drastically.

So, if you had to guess and put a # on it, what's the ballpark range you expect the cap to be at?
