So this one is a bit more of a wild thing, which includes moving Allen and Peterson before the trade deadline in about a week from now.

Mid Season Trades
Jared Allen is traded to the Dallas Cowboys who are making a playoff push. They trade a 1st and 3rd for him, and a conditional 3rd next year, if he resigns with them.

Adrian Peterson is traded to the Denver Broncos. While Manning is still around, they want to win. The Broncos give up a 1st this year, a 1st next year, and a 2nd this year.

Coaches
Head Coach: David Shaw
I'm keeping my choice the same, I think that he'd come with the right money, and even though he says he doesn't want to move on, an NFL job is more impressive than a college job, and he's been an NFL coach before.

Offensive Coordiator: Frank Reich
I keep him around as well from my previous choice. The resurgence of Rivers is awesome this year, so he makes sense to poach.

Defensive Coordiator: Lovie Smith
Changed my choice. He's a good defensive coach, and will command respect.

NFL Draft Pick List
1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 3c, 4, 5, 6, 7

NFL Draft
The Vikings have the #2 overall pick, plus two late first round pick, Cowboys in mid 20's, and Broncos at 31/32.

1a. Jadaveon Clowney, DE
Probably the best player in the draft, but Bridgewater should go first overall. I'm tempted by a QB, but man, I don't know.

1b. Trade Vikings trade the 1st in the mid twenties for a 2nd in the teens and 2015 1st.

1c. A.J. Johnson, ILB
Defense, defense, defense. He pushed Erin Henderson back to the outside.

2a. Cyril Richardson, OG
Helps the offensive line, for whoever plays QB.

2b. Derek Carr, QB
He gets to jump straight in as the starter, well, he gets a couple of weeks before Hanie is benched.

2c. Trade Vikings trade back with this pick, getting a 4th and 2015 2nd.

3a. Ed Reynolds, S
Defense needs so much help.

3b. Andre Hal, CB
Hopefully someone who can play slot or push Robinson to get better.

4a. Derrick Hopkins, DT
Back-up for the NT position.

4b. TradeThe Vikings trade up from their 2nd fourth round pick, adding in their fifth for a higher 4th round pick and select: Marion Grice, RB
Gerhart and Felton are the two RB's on the roster, Grice gives them a pass catching RB.

6. Trade The Vikings trade down, picking up a later 6th and a 2015 6th and select: Corey Nelson, OLB
LB depth is still a need, Cole is gone and Nelson can play on special teams.

7. Cody Riggs, DB
DB depth is needed, Riggs I think has a tiny bit of upside, but we'll see.

Sorry Gnat, The Cowboys are tight to the cap right now and a scheduled $31M over it for next year.

The same goes for the Brocnos this season; they may be able to afford AP for next season if Manning retires, but they can't afford him at all this year.

No way Jared Allen would go for more than 3rd round pick, let alone a 1st plus a 3rd.

I do, at this time, appreciate the sentiment to blow things up.

Yeah, the point wasn't meant to be 100% realistic trade partners, but to see how you could blow up the team.

Agree with the premise of trading away the two stars that won' be around one where competitive again. However, I don't think these guys will fetch anywhere near the compensation you've stated.

Thinking about it, Allen is probably high, but Peterson could fetch that, especially from a very good team that wants the push over the top, because the pick would be extremely late in round one.

I wonder if the Broncos would even look at a running back. Knowshon Moreno is starting to look legit, and they just spent a 2nd on Montee Ball. I picture that as their one-two punch moving forward.

I love the sentiment....

How about Peterson to Miami
Allen to New Orleans (you have to take back some players to even out the cap) Allen and a 4th for NO first.

Peterson to Miami for their first

I think those both are realistic, but painful.

So Cassel, Freeman, Ponder and Webb are all gone and we go with Hanie and late 2nd round rookie Carr as the starters to go with no running game.......this isn't a recipe for even bigger disaster?

New Orleans runs a 34 front, they wouldn't trade for Allen.

Miami could definitely afford Peterson this year, but they signed so many backloaded free agent contracts this past offseason that they are going to struggle with cap room in the future; not to mention, both of their starting defensive tackles are free agents and are going to require sizeable contracts to retain their services.

Gah, forgot about the 3-4 in NO.....not that either is going to happen.

You brought up a good possibility, in terms of cap space and proximity to the playoffs, in Miami.

I wonder if the stadium move would come into play?

There's some logic in making a clean break with the Metro Dome era and starting afresh with a boat load of young talent.

Two problems - hard to rebuild with any great optimism without a promising young QB.

Would you trust Spielman to oversee the rebuild or use the fresh start to entice a new GM?

The trades are beyond realistic.
