I think corner has overtaken edge rusher as the biggest need on defense

My favorite is definitely Kyle Fuller. My homer-Stanley Jean Baptiste. He's been getting lots of comparisons to Richard Sherman, mainly due to his changing positions. But it's a comparison nonetheless!

I am always smitten with CBs, but Fuller is pretty good, so is his backfield mate Exum, though he has major injury histroy.

I also like the Florida CBs and Justin Gilbert from Okie State

I'd love to have a really good CB to pair with PP, but our coverage problems this year have been predominantly against TE's. Brent Celek and Zac Ertz this game - geez - we need upgraded coverage at the safety and linebacker positions on TE's.

Most obvious place to upgrade that I see related to covering TE's is SS. Too bad this year's draft doesn't look so great there - we need a young A-Dub.

Our inability to defend the TE is very frustrating. I hate making average TE's look like pro bowlers. I'm starting to come around to LSU S Craig Loston. He's a little stiff but he's got the size speed and strength to matchup with TE's.

ADub 2013 is Flowers from Arizona.

Almost a physical clone.

I have a man crush, dont know why he is not rated higher, granted he is playing LB this year, but he is a safety in the pros.

Also, Terrence Brooks from FSU could fill the role too.

Gotta say, Left Tackle and Strong Safety are priority 1 and 1a for me.

Add in Guard which will be fixed by Coops return and CB and we are done

Do we have 4 1st rounders? Smile

If one thing has been made clear this season, this defense needs a safety that can cover tight ends. Each and every week this team lets up big games to tight ends. I do not know of any safeties with good coverage skills, so hopefully this can be addressed in FA if not the draft.

Left tackle is easily the biggest need for this team. We do not need Joe Thomas at left tackle, we just need someone who can do a better job than what we have gotten from Levi Brown, D'Anthony Batiste, Nate Potter and Bradley Sowell these past couple of years.

I havent seen as many games this year as i would have liked, is the TE covering issue FS or SS.

So is it Mathieu or Bell/Johnson? or even the LBs?

There are some decent cover safeties coming out, no one great, but alot of decent good pros, well i think so anyway

I think it's really a mix of the two but I think we have had the safety cover them more. And I don't think anyone will be blaming our LBs for anything considering they have played at such a high level. I think it's mostly been Bell that has had the problems

And I agree we won't see and ADubs in this draft but that doesn't mean that we can't find a player with a skill set that meets our needs. Obviously I've talk about Kenny Ladler before, but he is not the only one. Lots of good cover safeties coming out this year not very top heavy but still good talent to be had

I would have to double check with khodder's metrics, but I am pretty sure it is the safeties that are asked to cover the tight ends more often than not. I know Mathieu let up a TD to Celek, and he may have been responsible for others in that game. I remember watching Bell struggled against Jimmy Graham, but everyone struggles against Graham. Bowles deserved blame in that game for consistently putting a horrible coverage safety on the most athletic tight end in the business.

Going through khodder's metrics, the common theme is this: Tyrann Mathieu is not a good cover safety. He has let up TDs in too many consecutive games. Yeremiah Bell is also not a good cover safety, but he has always been an in-the-box safety. I do not know if Johnson is any better, but opposing TE's are consistently this defense's Achilles heel and we have not seen much improvement week in week out.

I'm starting to get a feeling that Tyrann Mathieu is vastly overrated
