They should've traded him before benching him. His value rite now is probably at best a 5th round pick when we could've maybe got a 2nd round pick. You don't air out someone's dirty laundry and then expect everyone to hop on to get this guy.

Doubtful we could have gotten him for a second. Remember, he re-signed with us because no one was interested in giving him a new contract.

Bills went hard at him, but he chose here over them.

Can't think of any real TE needy teams that would be willing to take him on. Wish we could find a way to swing him in a package for Josh Gordon but I doubt that happens without losing something I don't want to lose.

Trade him for whatever you can get. Maybe a team like the Seahawks?

You try to avoid trading him to a team that would eventually hurt you, where if we backed into the playoffs and somehow faced the Seahawks, Fred Davis lights you up for 130 yards and 2 TD's.

Why is he in disfavor. Is not fully recovered from the achilles and isn't the same player,, or just not dedicated enough.. ? What is it? Sure seems like a valuable player for us. Suppose Reed gets hurt ..? I think I'd rather we keep him unless someone is willing to go as high as a 4th rd pick.

You're only going to get a team who is making a playoff run this year. He's a free agent after this season.

If he's capable of putting up 130 yards and 2 TDs, why is he not playing? Line him up at receiver.

Well then teams will know that and not give up a draft pick at all and just wait to be released. With Reed being as good as he is, it is likely that he will get released.

Just releasing Davis would be stupid.

You never know what the future brings. Reed is awesome and IMO even more talented than Davis coming out but he also isn't always dependable. Something's always going on with him.

The only way I see Davis being moved alone is if we get another player who could help us in return, like possibly a DB or DL, but the likelihood of that is slim.

The only thing I can come up with is a package that includes him, Royster and Cousins to a team dieing for a few more playmakers like the Browns or Rams and need a qb.

Even that is a long, long shot though.

I think what happened with Fred is he injured his ankle, and the young Rook came in and took his job. Really nothing more too it.

That's fine too. No reason to release him unless we desperately need the roster spot.

And that team may know that but might not be willing to wait until the offseason.

Think about a team like the Chiefs. Maybe they're not happy with Fasano and want to get someone better. Reid has seen Davis before. All he has to do is part with a 5th or 6th round pick, no problem.

Someone wants him, you make the trade. If not, keep him on the roster.

If we start getting banged up at other positions we may have to cut him. There's no reason to keep him (especially after the trade deadline) if he's going to remain inactive and we have needs at other positions.

End of the year, he's done. CUT. no new contract.

Reed becomes the Receiving TE we have been waiting for.

Paulsen, who is already signed to a multi-year deal remains the blocker who catches an occasional surprise pass.

We draft a TE, bring one up from PS or grab a FA before Davis is even considered next year.

[x]
3/29/2013: Signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract. The deal included a $1.5 million signing bonus. Another $1.25 million is available through incentives. 2013: $1 million.

Stick with Paul, he's been the only consistent player on special teams.

I think we find an UFA to bring in and put him on the practice squad to develop
