Quote:
The Texans gave no explanation for releasing the three rookies, all of whom were inactive for Sunday’s 17-16 loss to the Chiefs, but a person familiar with the situation said they were waived because they violated unspecified team rules at their Kansas City hotel on Saturday.

Montgomery was the 95th player selected in the 2013 NFL Draft. Jefferson and Wood were undrafted.

Dang, had really high expectations for Montgomery prior to the draft; actually thought he would be the superior player to Mingo. Looks like he still has some maturing to do before he can even be serviceable at the next level. Hopefully this isn't the extent of his NFL career, or the others for that matter, regardless of whatever violation they committed.

Montgomery apparently needs a brain transplant. ...And only you can help!

Sam Montgomery was just a bad pick. Especially being drafted within the top 100.

I thought Willie Jefferson had some real upside as a pass rusher so that is disappointing.

Call me bat*** crazy, but I think Denver should cut Hillman, cut Paris Lenon, and bring these two in. They need more pass rush depth, and they may be worth a look. At this point, what the heck?

Not surprised Sam was cut for that reason. He's not the smartest bulb.

Yep. I liked how violent his hands were in college but he's one of those guys that just can't get out of his own way. Doesn't seem to really care. And when you have a guy that won't put the work in, he's not going to be successful.

Well, I bet Cierre Wood feels pretty stupid right now. Had he not gotten busted, he would have probably been active yesterday and gotten plenty of carries after Foster and Tate got hurt.

Can't imagine that being real. Why would Les Miles help the rest of the SEC recruit in such an obvious way?

It wasn't Les Miles. It was a strength and conditioning coach, IIRC.

Considering Les Miles let Jeremy Hill back on the team, then no it wasn't him.

Houston Texans rookies Sam Montgomery, Cierre Wood and Willie Jefferson were released Monday, two days after violating team rules while at the Texans' team hotel in Kansas City.

Three sources who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com that the violation occurred due to marijuana use.

That would explain things.
