Bears LB Lance Briggs out 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury, per league source. No surgery needed.

Man, the Bears are getting so many injuries right now. Their defense is definitely getting decimated more than offense, but overall a bad year for injuries for them.

Quote:
Bears announce that Jay Cutler has a muscle tear in groin. Out at least 4 weeks.

This is turning out to be one of the worst weeks for injuries I have ever seen

Add this to everything else they've suffered and Cutler likely being out for a long time, if not the whole year, and the Bears season is looking really, really bleak moving forward.

We'll add Cutler to this thread:

Quote:

twitter.come/michaelcwrigtht

He and Briggs could come back around the same time.

I knew Cutler was but Briggs too?

My first instinct is to say they are screwed but their defense hasn't played well and they might have enough talent on offense to stay above water even with McCown until Jay returns.

Said this right when I heard of the Cutler injury -- as much as I hate the Bears, always hate to see a player like that go down. I was looking forward to a Bears/Packers showdown w/ Cutler/Rodgers at the helm. A lot of mutual respect between those two. Rodgers will be bummed I'm sure. Two of the more physically talented QBs in the league.

Got sacked early in the game kind of awkwardly, nothing illegal or anything. Just one of those freak injuries I guess. Torn groin, at least 4 weeks out. I'd expect it to be more than 4.

Seems like Cutler gets hurt every year around this time, right when the Bears are starting to look like a playoff team.

If I'm them I'm seriously considering whether or not I want to commit to him for another 4-5 years after this season.

You play the Packers the week Cobb comes back too (hopefully) should have CMIII, Perry, Jones and Hayward back as well, hopefully Finley too if the injury isnt serious. Cowboys arent catching any breaks with the NFCN.

Rough injury season for the Bears and Packers thus far, feel like minus Calvin's brief injury the Lions and Vikings have been relatively healthy. Still hoping the Bears can fight through this to make that week 17 game a battle for the North. I love the rivalry when its all on the line like it was twice in the SB year.

Yeah he had the concussion against the Texans last year and then that awkward thumb injury against the Chargers the year before. Then of course that infamous knee injury against the Packers in the playoffs in 2010.

None of them are real serious injuries, but just enough to take him out long enough to really hurt the Bears season.

And I think if they do bring him back next year, which I expect them to, it won't be any more than a 3-year deal. He hasn't been consistent enough during his tenure in Chicago to get a mega contract that QBs are getting these days. Regardless of what happens with his contract, I expect them to draft his replacement (or at least someone they envision taking over) in this draft.
