I just traded for Doug Martin this week in fantasy thinking I'd buy low on him...

1st game with me he's DOA...

I hate to see any guy go down with a season ending injury, but this may not be the worst thing for either Tampa or Martin. The injury shouldn't affect him when he comes back and it also saves him from being run up the middle 30 times a game under Schiano. This could give Martin a longer career cause the way Schiano was using him, he would've been lucky to play beyond 6 years. When he is back healthy, he will be playing under a coaching staff that actually wants to look after him.

Mike James will hopefully get his opportunity now. He played well yesterday when he came in for Martin.

Tampa is going all-in for the draft it seems. With the weapons they have on offense, a talented young defense... if they can snag a superstar potential rookie AND land a premier coach, they could really compete next season.

I agree with this, except I would say even six years would be very optimistic at the rate Martin was being pounded. Schiano has been doing his best to get Doug killed all year.

Yeah they are. In fact that play call was for Martin to get hurt just so they wouldn't beat Atlanta, so they can have a better draft pick, and premiere coach.

sigh...(YES, I was being sarcastic)

Speaking Monday, Bucs coach Greg Schiano admitted it would be a "stretch" for Doug Martin (shoulder) to play in Week 8, but that the team does not believe his injury is season-ending.
Take it with a grain of salt this is Greg Schiano we're talking about here but it's unlikely Schiano would project such positivity if he truly feared Martin's season was over. Of course, Schiano did not provide a timetable for Martin's return, so he should still be considered out indefinitely. Mike James will get the start on Thursday against the Panthers. It's possible Martin's status won't be meaningfully updated until next week.
