This article is just too damn good....my buddy who lives in Florida sent it to me. Laughing
Yeah, let's cite Pereira on one play and then ignore his opinion that the batting call was correct.

Goodel must have paid him off in between calls

It's the classic I'll use the authority figure as long as they support my opinion.

Sounds like Ridley was benched for taunting the Jets on the touchdown last week.

The other looked like a batted ball in real-time (which is all the refs have) and a marginal call on the replay - I can see why it was called, especially as the ball traveled about 15 yards.

No reason you can't pick up the flag though. This isn't the NBA. Unless you can't review that call. In which case it's unfortunate that the ref missed it to begin with. The defender's arm looked to me like he was trying to scoop it, his arm was traveling in an arc.

Vernon was very clearly trying to scoop it. Why would he hit it forward when the only person who had a chance to recover it was him? If he can get his hand on it, he should try to recover is which he did try to do. The refs saw that and decided that New England can't afford to lose 2 in a row. Kinda how they "won" against New Orleans.

The batting play in NE is clear to me. #50 illegally bats it forward which you can't do. That is a penalty and correctly ruled.

Mike Pereira in on the conspiracy?

^ Buying what exactly? Vernon himself didn't deny deliberately batting the ball when asked about it.

Obviously Olivier Vernon was paid off by Goodell to say that. You're so naive Rolling Eyes

You're both wrong....Sith Lord Belicheat used his powers to force Vernon to say it.

I was at the game, I didn't realize Phins fans were so up in arms.

That makes the win that much more awesome.

The Dolphins are so pathetic that they just fit those fans perfectly.

Phins fans can blame the refs all they want, the fact remains that they scored zero points in the second half. That was their main problem. A team that literally does nothing in the second half is destined to lose.

Indeed. They just played bad football.

I can't believe this is even a controversy Laughing

If you extend your arm and knock a loose ball downfield in the process, and don't appear to be making any effort to corral it, you're going to get called for illegal touching. Its not like this is some kind of exotic rule. Its quite well known among fans. Smart players make it look like they're trying to pick it up. Polamalu, anyone?

Its funny how people cite the refs when its convenient (last week in OT vs. the Jets), and then when Mike Periera comes out and says it himself, its "herp derp the refs are always screwing us".
