This is true. They have less than 300k

The Vikings could eat 600K of Ponder's remaining $763,835 base salary.

Then trade him for a player with a similar cap figure? Any breathing LB or OG would be worth it (or NT for that matter).

Not a rumor, but a trade the "makes sense" to Adam Schefter

Quote:
• Vikings QB Christian Ponder to the Rams for a third-round pick: Minnesota has been looking to move on from Ponder, and the Rams need to find a better alternative after Sam Bradford's injury than Kellen Clemens. Ponder can help this season and then back up Bradford next season.

I think we'd all be ecstatic.

For a third round pick Laughing

I see Cassel as more likely to be traded, as he is the third QB and he is a veteran so he may have an easier time picking up a new offense in a hurry.

a 3rd rounder for Ponder? Count me in. I read somewhere else today that we should trade Ponder to the Rams for a 4th rounder.

The Rams are going to give up a 3rd rounder for Ponder?

Shocked

Cassel can just opt out of his contract next year. No one is young to trade for a backup QB for 8 games, IMO.
