With Sam Bradford going down with a torn ACL...do you think the rams might want Ponder ...what could we get for him

Beat you to it by 14 minutes in the other games thread, but I'm fine with this staying open.

Great minds.

Do you think they would be interested in Ponder or Cassel? Or who would the Vikings be more willing to give up?

Honestly, I don't think we could get anything more than a conditional or late round pick for him.

Jon Beason, despite his injury history, was an established player in this league and was dealt for nothing more than a late round pick.

Yeah, but Beason was on the backside of his career...Ponder is still 25 and has shown a little promise....I would be happy with a 4th rd for him...but would take anything

I think Cassel is more likely to be traded. I don't Ponder has the ability to go into another organization and start next week. He isn't at that point in his career yet. I expect St. Louis to make sign a body and go with the flow for the rest of the season. St. Louis could have two Top 10 picks in this upcoming draft, they will likely sign someone of the street to keep the seat warm for their rookie QB. Tebow and Vince Young are the leading options IMO.

At this point, Ponder could be had for a 7th rounder, and I would be happy. Heck, I would be happy with a just a case of beer for him. I want him off the roster and could careless what we could get for him. I doubt there is any team out there desperate like the Raiders were a couple seasons ago when they gave up 2 1st round picks for Palmer.

I love how personally offended people are by a guy whose only transgression against them was not being a Hall of Fame QB.

That said, nobody is giving us anything of value for Ponder. He hasn't shown that he'd put them in position to win many more games than Clemmons, and it isn't like the Rams have much hope of a playoff spot.

I don't think you would get anything back to make it really worth it. I think his value to the Vikings is higher than you would get back with a 5-7th rnd pick.

As a Packer fan who though it was a terrible pick at the time, all isn't lost with Ponder. He's young and hasn't exactly been saddled with the greatest supporting cast/coaching staff of all time. Hopefully Freeman can play well enough to let Ponder learn a bit on the bench and take some time to get his confidence back.

I personally would wait it out a bit longer, certainly would keep him over Cassel.

Let's just be nice and donate him to the Rams.

We would be fortunate to get a conditional pick.
Like 6th, that could turn into a 5th given amount of games started.

Yeah, any trade of Ponder would be highly conditional. Probably something along the lines of a 6th that could escalate all the way to a 4th depending on some crazy criteria.

If I was St. Louis, I was much rather have Cassel than Ponder.
