@sbnation: The Texans can't catch a break. Brian Cushing is believed to be out for the season with torn LCL and broken leg:

Looked bad when he was cut-blocked/chop-blocked by Jamaal Charles

Awful, awful news. He worked hard to return from a torn ACL last year and now this. Really feel bad for Cushing. I hope he returns next year and continues to play at a high level.

Wow how unlucky can you be? He is probably done overall.. His knees are going to be so susceptible to further injury recovered or not. Surprised this only has like 3 comments. One of the best defensive players in the league.

Watt may be the best player but Cushing is the heart of our defense. Have to expect quite a bit of regression for the unit as a whole sadly. Hopefully, the injury doesn't curtail his future.

Serioulsy... NFL talks about player safety but continues to allow cut blocking... Cushing might go from a future several time All-Pro to a guy who has to hang em up early due to injuries thanks to cut blocking on two consecutive seasons...

You hate to see that for him.

I never really cared much for him as a player, but it sucks to see anyone get injured. Hopefully he can make a full recovery. What it the same knee he injured last year? That is really bad news if it is.

Im just saying that they were/are great ILBs who had major injuries. Beason is now a shell of his former self, and Cushing now has his second major injury.

Hate that this injury happened, I like Cushing a lot. Hate cut blocks, but Cushing has to protect himself better there, Charles didn't blindside cut him, Cushing had to see it coming. He didn't even change stride when Charles went down for block. Players have to slide off cut blocks, not try to power threw them. It would've slowed Cushing's pass rush down a sec, but you have to do that, he wasn't unblocked like he acted.

The angle I saw during the game it looked like Charles just held his ground (going low still) and Cushing ran into Charles like he didn't even care Charles was cut blocking him. After watching replay on NFL.com (to reassure myself that Charles didn't lunge at his knees) I've changed my mind a little with the angle they show. I don't think it was dirty or illegal, but Charles could have made a better block that would've lessened the injury risk. But it's not like an open field blindside cut block, where you have no choice but to have your knee bent in funny ways. Cushing was blitzing and Charles was blocking him from straight one. Cushing should've paused shuffling his step so his leg wasn't planted when Charles hit him. The fact that he didn't slow down or try to brace for cut block (even with injured knee last year from cut block) shows me that Cushing is FEARLESS. Charles and Berry were recovering from ACLs last year and they played as if they were protecting their knees for over half the season.

Terrible injury that I hate seeing. Hope a full and speedy recovery for Cushings.

Again? Jeeez. Really sucks for the guy. Just terrible luck, and really unfortunate to see these type of blocks derail a career.
