I like Mettenberger as a 3rd/4th rounder (no that he tore his ACL) who develops by sitting for a year or two. He definitely fits the BA system. I still wish we had drafted Glennon (maybe over Minter).

Glennon would not have played, Palmer would have still

Hindsight is never fair as you cannot predict the future, Minter was a good pick

Thought I heard a rumor that since Mariota stays he's leaning towards coming out

That would be smart. With Mariota staying, Hundley maybe staying, and Mettenberger/Murray injured, he'd be only behind Bridgewater and Carr IMO. I personally like Bortles a lot. He's somewhere between Andrew Luck and EJ Manuel as a prospect. He's not the sure thing Luck was but he's more polished than Manuel.

Dont count out Carr/Fales/Renner etc

All have issues, all have positives.

There are 3 guys I would take in the first round of this draft.

Bridgewater
Carr
Bortles

Bortles hasn't gotten a lot of media hype so I've no idea what scouts actually think about him. All 3 are capable of starting early but Palmer will definitely be on the roster next year IMO. We'll be picking too late in the draft to cut Palmer before his bonus.

Sounds like Bortles is expected to submit paperwork to the Draft Advisory Board. I get the feeling he's gonna enter. Who knows if he's around by the time the Cards pick though.

Call me crazy but Aj McCarron has grown on me. I think I would pull the trigger on him if he is available in the 3rd. Another thing to consider some of these QB's are coming in with an injury/need extra development. This could be the perfect year to draft one and let them sit behind Carson Palmer for a year.

He's grown on me as well but wouldn't take him near the 1st round (although John Clayton says he'll go in the first rd).

Brett Smith out of Wyoming declares. Would LOVE to bring him in. He's one of my favorite QB prospects this year
