Not really. Wacha vs. Lackey and Peavy vs. Kelly are both in St. Louis's favor.
This series is going to come down to which team makes more mistakes pitching, and the Sox right now look far more likely to make a mistake pitching and not capitalize on a Cardinal mistake.
It can be done, but I don't see it as likely given the way the offense has performed. |
If I was a betting game, I would say that this game decides the series _________________

Might need Doubront Wednesday. Can't assume he will be available. Right now, we have to assume Peavy will start a hypothetical Game 7. |
Then I have no faith at all. Peavy touching an important ball in this series again kills me. _________________

But then of course their bullpen is good too. |
They're going to have to get to Wainright. A battle of the bullpen favors the Cardinals. |
And and not to be repetitive but I don't wanna touch Felix this game. We need him and Lester to platoon game 7. |
Farrell on Lester on short rest (from earlier in the postseason):
Quote: | There was some conversation, but I think that history shows that that’s not, that has not been successful,” Sox manager John Farrell said Saturday. “From a broader perspective on Lester, the last seven, eight weeks of the season, he pitched on (five) days’ rest the entire time. He went on (four) days’ rest against Detroit (in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series). (There was) a little bit different stuff. It was noticeable. I recognize we’re in the World Series, I recognize the time of year. But I would rather have Jon Lester at full strength or with normal rest than at three days of rest.” |
Obviously, in a game 7, it's all hands on deck but Lester on short rest probably isn't going to get good results.
He's pitched on 3 days rest just twice in his career and has allowed a line of .317/.404/.659. _________________

Yeah, it's tough to see a Game 7 win if it comes to that. The pitching is just so heavily skewed towards St. Louis. _________________

Ugh this is going to be a tough decision for Farrell. Can't take Lester out but if Ross makes an out....I don't know that you can justify not pinch hitting for him with 2 on in the 7th. _________________

If no GIDP do we double switch for Lester using Carp or Victorino? _________________

And Wainwright over 100+ pitches is good. _________________
