Frazier said he would make a decision by practice on Wednesday. What's the point of announcing it that early? why not wait until monday?

My guess, primarily to appease the fans.

Well, I'd say Bridgewater playoff, but that doesn't sound as cool......we still have Jax and other awful teams to contend with.

He made a decision by Wednesday this week too, but didn't announce it until Friday.

Manning is going to torch us, especially since Randle has been tearing it up. If I didn't already pick Eli in the 5000 challenge I would definitely be picking him. Hopefully Freeman shows some life and AD has a good game...

Giants pass blocking might be the worst in the league. Eli torching, while very possible, is far from certain.

I actually think that Matt Cassel will be the starter.

As I've stated before, Quartebacking isn't our biggest problem right now. Cassel will get one more opprotunity, and if we take another L against a no win, it's more convenient to move onto Freeman. Similar to Ponders injury.

In the process you get Freeman a solid 3 weeks of perpetration to take on an ailing and beatable Green Bay team.

Our pass rush has also been pretty bad. Maybe they will show up, who knows.

That is a solid point, but I think I would rather see how well Freeman can run the little bit of the offense he has learned. Go into New York with a "basic" gameplan and see how he does. I don't think it could get much worse than what Ponder/Cassel have shown.

i think since a lot of the fan base is so impatient at this point, I don't know if Frazier has an option of starting anyone but Freeman.

I'm in this boat. You always hear because "to appease fasn", "to instill confidence in the QB", blah blah. I always hate when there's a QB battle in pre-season and the coach announces someone will be the Week 1 starter after one game. It makes no sense.

I assume someone is getting more than 50% of the snaps with the first team. What does it hurt to say who that is?

What reason would there be to disclose this information? If a head coaches goal is to appease fans, they certainly wont be employed for long given how fickle fans can be on both sides of the fence.
