I see the Saints and Seahawks winning their divisions comfortably.

I see the Eagles keeping it up for a while, but Dallas pulling out the East.

Even if the Bears were healthy, I still wouldnt see them contending for the division. With their injuries on the dline and Cutler pretty much looking the same as always, I see them getting to about 8 wins.

I see the North coming down to us and the Packers.

Wild Cards: 2nd place North team, and probably the 49ers.

Still early, but these are my thoughts as of now.

If we win these next two challenging home games to get to 6-2 at the BYE, the division is ours for the taking. We are lucky to get Cin/Dal/Bal at home this year and Was/Pit/Phi away. Still need a #2 receiving threat to challenge NO/SEA in the playoffs, IMO, but we have a cakewalk schedule, if Mayhew Schwartz fail to win a playoff game with a healthy roster, they should be fired.

I see a 12 - 4 record for this team as a distinct possibility. Could be as good as the '91 lions, but with a far better QB.

Bengals - toss up
Cowboys - slight edge
@Bears - could win
@Steelers - should win
Tampa Bay - should win
Green Bay - could win
@Philly - toss up
Baltimore - toss up
NYG - should win
@Minnesota - should win

I figure they'll drop one of the four 'should win' games, since that's what they do. Need to go 3-3 in the other 6 games to get them to 10-6. Tough task, but could happen. Yeah, if they can go into the bye at 6-2, they'll be in real good shape, but that's two very tough games they need to win first.

I guess the good thing to take away from that upcoming schedule is that there are no games on it where you can definitely chalk up a loss.

Still not getting hopes up until a playoff win. That's all that matters. We could go 14-2 and that means nothing really.

Well of course to Lions fans, but not to the NFL. Really only way to get respect is from playoff win. Then I bet Stafford will get credit. And so will everyone in Lions organization.

Yep.

This is almost a playoff winning caliber defense (they need DE and CB positions to tighten up, Houston is off this year, Mathis is a good #2 but is always nicked up and Young Ansah and Fairley need to pressure consistently. Watching River/Luck tonight, if these guys can win Playoff games, there is absolutely no reason Stafford can't. If this team looked like an 8-8 team, and they overachieved to sneak into the postseason (like we all thought could happen in the beginning of the season) it'd be okay to keep this Staff for exceeding our expectations. But now, we've seen more. The defense is too good. The OL (outside of GB game) is too good. Calvin + Reggie on the field are too good. Stafford and the defense have majorly improved. It's time for an Andy Reid or Lovie Smith ultimatum (I'd prefer it to not be public, though) Win in January or call Two Men and a Truck.

Winning this division would have to mean a lot. Green Bay has been winning it almost every year for the last quarter-century and Chicago has been very good for the last decade. Most people rank the NFC North as one of the best, if not the best, division in the game. If Detroit came out on top it would mean an awful lot. I doubt it would mean a first-round bye, but it would mean home-field advantage in the wildcard round and that means we'd have a decent shot at an actual playoff win.

We have the easiest remaning schedule. There is no excuse not to win double digit games unless Stafford falls off a cliff.

Chi without Cutler, Pitt, TB, Philly, Balt, NYG and Minny SHOULD all be wins with a good chance to win against GB at home. We could very well go into the postseason with a 10 game winning streak.
