All the prevent defense did was preventing the Saints from winning. They let Brady complete one 20 yard pass after another, no pass rush, somebody head should roll for this disaster.

GO somewhere with that... you obviously know NOTHING about football!!! THis game was lost because of the Saints inability to run the football. THe defense won this game twice at the end of this game and the offense lost it once!

no, they lost it all day! without this defense this game would have been pretty sad!

The Saints scored 27 points, Everybody knows you don't let Brady stand in the pocket with no pressure he will kill you, the Saints had eight guy in a prevent defense running around like chickens with their head cut off. And the Pats beat the Saints with a bunch of no name receivers. If you want to blame the offense it was their last two position, when they didn't even try to get a first down. But all the blame has to go on the defense.

His point still stands. Defense may have kept the Saints in it all day, but on the biggest drive of the game they went soft. Pressure on Brady all day until it means the most...very disappointing.

The defense can only do so much against the arguable GOAT.

The offense needs to do something.

So the defense keeps us in it all day... after all the Saints 3 and outs early on, after Brees horrendous INT, after the Refs screw us out on the 4th and 1, after they give the offense 2 chances to ice the game under 3 minutes to go but no... it's because there worst time of the game happened to be the last memory you have of the game is the reason we lost???

So , lets just forget how it was only a competitive game because of the defense, let's forget how the offense time and time again screwed the pooch in this game. Yeah, your right... it was the defense... Rolling Eyes

The Saint loss Sunday is not on the players it all on the coaches. The last four minutes of the game the Offense went into a shell, six straight dives into the line, on the last two series, the coaches took the ball out of Drew Brees hands. The defense went into the prevent mode the last 80 seconds of the game, put no pressure on Brady and he picked the defense apart. Now you see why the Cowboys fired Rob Ryan. All game long the defense keep pressure on Brady, and that gave Brees a chance to bring the Saints back and to take the lead. But then Ryan went into that stupid prevent defense, and that spelled disaster. Bottom line Belichick out coach all the Saint coaches, he shut down Colston & Jimmy Graham completely, but Drew Brees did a great job giving the Saints a great chance to win, Brees did his job to bad Rob Ryan didn't do his.

Brees did a great job of giving us a chance to win??? THis was one of his worst this season in my opinion. He was clearly off on most targets (the Toon non TD, Graham INT, and many more) Drew is always good for at least one or two of these games a year and we usually loose. This one we had a chance to overcome it but not because of him, but because of the players around him making great plays and his DEFENSE keeping him in the game throughout the contest. I agree the for the most part of the game Belichick had Drew confused and he looked uncomfortable. I wouldn't go as far as saying he out coached Payton...

The real bottom line is that Hoodie went for it on 4th down and that should have been the game, (or even after the Lewis INT). But the Saints inability to gain a 1st down on the ground when they actually needed it and the situation called for it... the Saints running game once again did what they do, they folded up.

Reading comprehension for the loss Rolling Eyes

I was simply saying that his point about the prevent defense was valid. I never said anything about it was ALL on the defense, or that it was the D's fault the Saint's loss. Saint's defense did great. Way to get your fleur-de-lis panties in a bunch though buddy Rolling Eyes

Yeah...I completely disagree. Other than Graham and Sproles...and an occasional PT screen pass....our offense has not been good this season. The defense has sustained us.

Of the list of problems I would put our defense below Sean Payton and Drew Brees. Think about that one for a second.

Sure, we lost.... and it stings. Even with all the missed or non-calls, poor offensive performance at times, poor defensive perfomance a couple drives, and even the 'reports of spying'... despite all that, we were in a postion to win the game. But, one lapse of defense caused us to lose. Point blank. That's who was on the field last.

Now, yes you can make an excuse for the defense. And, yes, I agree that the defense is BY FAR the MOST IMPROVED part of the Saints. Rob Ryan has done wonders with this unit. While my hats go out to the defense, the fact is that they were all the field last and failed to stop New England.

There are MANY positives to take away from this loss though... I'll do a thread later so we can discuss those.

I love this defense right now and wouldn't have it any other way. You win some you lose some.

So your blaming the defense for the loss by default???
