After the win against the Seahawks, Mathis has quietly racked up 9.5 sacks on the year through just 5 games, and currently is tied with Mario Williams for first in the league.

He's only two sacks shy of his career high of 11.5 sacks with 11 games to go.

Just wondering what you guys think his season-total will end up being.

Did he get 2 sacks today?

Im not sure where his numbers could end up? It is clear though that he is excelling in the 3-4.

I would think 16-20 isnt out of the possibility

Yup, 2 more today, bringing his career total to 101.

Would love to see the 32 year old get 15+ this year and get his name in the DPOY talks.

If he keeps this up there is no doubt he will be in that discussion

barring injury, I dont see how he wont get 5.5 more sacks

Mathis' 2 sacks give him 101 sacks and #27 overall.

He passes;
#30 Andre Tippertt (N.E. Patriots/1982-1993) 100 sacks
#28T William Fuller (Oilers, Eagles, Chargers/1986-1998) 100.5 sacks
#28T Charles Haley (49ers and Cowboys/1986-1999) 100.5 sacks

Next up: #26 Jim Jeffcoat (Cowboys and Bills (1983-1987) 102.5 sacks

The entire list can be seen here

We should have a topic stickied for stats and records like this...

Mathis is 7 sacks away from becoming the Colts' all-time leader in the category as well, passing his former bookend Dwight Freeney.

With nearly 200 combined sacks over a 10 year period together, I think they could go down as one of the best DE tandem's ever.

I don't think it will be surprising to see Mathis have more by the end of his career after Freeney's latest injury.

I think Mathis will get 19.5 sacks this year. I hope he gets 1 on Peyton.

Seeing as Freeney isn't on Indy anymore it doesn't matter if he is injured or not as far as team records go.

Mathis' 9.5 sacks is a record for most sacks in the first 5 weeks of the season. Back in 1998 Kevin Greene had 10 sacks in the first 5 games but had a bye week during week 5 so he didn't get his record until week 6

I don't think the point of his post was specific to just their Indy careers
