I dont think it would be th end of life as we know it if we sign Freeman. I was hoping we would go after him next yr. I say grab him now on a two to three yr deal.
reasons
1) He would be a better back up than anything we have
2) He will add competition probably more next yr than this one.
3) If TP wins the job then we have good trade bait ala kolb Cassell ect.
4) If TP or anyone else for that matter doesn't want competition I dont want them on my team anyway ( seems like Pryor thrives on it so shouldn't be an issue)
5) Always Always do what you can to improve the roster no matter who gets their feeling hurt.
6) to everyone that thinks he will be given the job....really this f.o. and staff have shown that above all the best will play. Even if it makes them look bad (Wilson, Berg, Flynn)

off topic a little but its a shame "fans" wish for bad things to happen so the gm or hc or whoever gets fired....what a crock-o-chit we have been there then they will want the next one gone and the next and so on. Honestly go find another team. Get behind the team we have or gtfo! We all knew it would be bad this year. I for one find it refreshing. How about we look at things a different way for a second.

We have an electrifying hard working very raw kid at qb that wants it. We have some young players who have alot of potential (Houston, Hayden, Sio, Hulk, Watson the list goes on. And oh yeah did I mention the team we pull for was put togther with a partial draft and no cap money? So what if Freeman comes in and Pryor goes off and turns the corner. Worst thing happens we get a good backup worth being trade bait. If Freeman balls out we have the same thing. What we should want is that at every position on the team.

I would rather Freeman play somewhere else, give #2 a chance to play out the year. It's not like we don't need more linemen and other positions too.

I would hate to sign Freeman at this point.

Just let Pryor play the season to see what he's got.

He's not going to play great every game so I'd hate for the coaches to throw Freeman in if Pryor has a stretch of bad play.

I can't really see Freeman having that much to offer anyways.

I don't get this logic. So don't have a solid backup plan if Pryor falters? Or what if he takes another hit running and can't go.

Trusting an URFA QB to fill in just because is misguided.

A 24 year old QB w/ starting experience is nothing but a help to a team w/ limited options at the position. If Pryor bust out, you now have trade bait. If not, you have an option at QB.
I'd just reiterate what holyghost said in that I'm not afraid he would outperform Pryor but I'd be afraid that he'll be handed the starting position just because he's more "traditional" and seems to fit in better with Olsen's scheme.

About Pryor faltering, I say let him. He's a young QB who is going to make mistakes. If we sign Freeman, I have a feeling the coaches are going to be trigger happy in putting him.

Just let Pryor play the season. Barring a season ending injury the next few weeks, I would stay away from Freeman at least until the offseason.

It's not like we're contending for a playoff spot or anything anyways. This season has almost always been the closest thing to a wash as you can get.

Pryor has been one of the lone sparks in a mostly dismal offense so far. Don't ruin it.

this and just like cp he isnt going to sign to be a backup he will come if they promise him the #1 spot.

If Pryor lights it up tonight I have a hard time believing freeman would be signed and just given the starting QB position.

Frazier should be a good match with him. particularly after who he's had as coach this year.

Well it looks like it is Carr or nothing now. See ya Flynn. Enjoy your hot wife, because you sure as hell wont enjoy being named a starting QB in the NFL ever again.
