its done IF he passes the physical which seems very unlikely given the ESPN article I read 2 days ago. He's a liability in coverage as witnessed to the 113 yards he gave up against Seattle AND the tackle that he didnt make that would have forced Seattle to punt in that game. This is a business and I fully trust what Gettleman is doing. I loved Jon Beason as our MLB when healthy. He isnt healthy! We didnt get fleeced! He has played 7 games in 2 years?!?!?! I hope he passes his physical and plays lights out for the Giants. This is laying the ground work for us to land Hakeem Nicks and I am good with that. Nicks WILL be a Panther next year. The future is bright and this is a great move by our GM! _________________ I wish I could get paid to talk football, its all I do! |

Great move to get anything for him. I hope he passes the physical.
There is no way they would give us Nicks for him.
Beasons contract voids at end of year I believe we take a 8mill cap hit either way to get rid of him.
We have Blackburn and Klein.
Word is Beason wasn't happy with Blackburn taking over job and was starting to complain about it. _________________

Beason, you will be missed. Thanks for the great years.
That being said, I'm very happy we did this. A 5th is the absolute most we could have gotten for him. He was benched and making a lot of money, why wouldn't we do this?! Now we have the space to see Klein grow and hopefully develop into a productive player like James Anderson did during the years that Davis was hurt. Now Beason's cap numbers will be off our books. Gettleman knows that we need the cap space to be a player in FA and that is what he is doing.
Absolutely love this, and love the direction Gettleman is taking us. _________________

Beason was as good as gone after this year anyway. His contract was going to be voided after the season. I loved the guy when he was healthy but he has not been even a shell of the same player since the microfracture surgery on his knee. He would have been a back up for the rest of the year so if we can get something for him then why not.
I don't see anyway we get Nicks for him but if it is a 5th then I will be satisfied.
I guess this means we should see more of AJ Klien along with Senn. |

Very good move. We were doing a lot more 2 LB packages, so it made sense to see what we could get for Beason with him seeing the field less. With
I honestly, think we got a steal; unless Beason gets back to Pro Bowl form and I hope he does.
For a guy that has been injured the past 2 seasons, has been under performing this year, and is a free agent at the end of the year after his contract restructure, a 5th is a great deal for us. Ideal place to pick up some OL and secondary depth in the draft.
Feels good to have an intelligent GM.

I was hoping for at least a 3rd but I guess I overvalued him as I still remember Beaston. But his contract is off our books and we did get some return for him. Gettlemen is doing amazing with our cap and hopefully we use it to improve in the offseason. _________________

I have mixed feelings about this. I wish we could have gotten more but we didn't really need him anymore. Oh well, we had some good memories I hope he gets back to top level with the Giants! |

Wondering the same thing? I have read multiple reports but none have stated a 5th. only that it would be a late round pick. As far as we know it could have been a 6th or 7th. _________________

I think everyone is just guessing at this time. I have read 5th on 2 different Giants boards and I have read 7th on a Panthers board. The only ones that know for sure right now are the 2 FOs. |
