Jon Beason is officially a Giant. Passed his physical.

does anyone know how his cap hit translates across? he's supposed to be due $6.5M next season. obviously i would anticipate a restructure if he's still here, but curious what that does to our cap situation.

ESKY usually has all these answers... Very Happy

His contract will void next season

His contract got restructured earlier this year from $5.4 mill to $1 mill. So it will prob cost us $750,000.

I love this move. Don't expect much for 4-6 weeks than watch him come on.

So you are expecting we resign him for next season?

Definitely. Health is a question mark but a guy with his career on the line, back against the wall. I'm not betting against him. I saw this off season training from him the year before. I guarantee his is doing everything he can. The guy is a leader and extremely hard worker. I wish him the best

Brilliant tactic by Reese. Ignore LB in the draft, then bring in first round busts as a reminder to the fans of how unreliable first round LBs are. Rivers, Curry, now Beason.

If healthy (since he passed a physical I'm assuming yes) he's better than anyone we have on the roster Razz

So thats what an above average LB looks like.... Been so long I almost couldnt remember what it was like seeing a linebacker fill the hole and make a tackle.

Beason aint what he used to be, but he is still head and shoulders above anything we have/had for a while now. It is just one game, but if we could lock him up at MLB, we could build around him. He is still young enough that this could be our starting MLB for the next few seasons. Maybe draft a blue chip OLB? Start actually giving a damn about our LB corps? A guy can dream, can't he?

So...who wants to hate on Reese now? We apparently got Beason for a 7th round pick.

Me me me!

He cant draft for crap and I hate him for it, this move does not help the fact that we haven't had a good draft in what seems like 5 years.

Also not that impressive considering Beason was considered to be on the heavy decline in Carolina and they had no value for him with Keuchly. Still it was a great move in hindsight, but I feel like we could have traded even less to get him.

How could Reese possibly have given up less than a 7th rounder?

I'm sure a few Kit Kat bars would have sufficed.

NYG gives up:
David Diehl
CAR gives up:
Jon Beason
