Christian Ponder fans across the pond won't get the opportunity to see the quarterback play Sunday.

Quote:
The Vikings announced Friday that backup quarterback Matt Cassel will start for Minnesota against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday over Ponder, who suffered a rib injury in Week 3.

Take a look at photos of the NFL across the pond as the Steelers and Vikings prepare for battle.
Ponder did not participate Friday in his team's practice in London, where the Vikings and Steelers will play the NFL's seventh game in England.

Don't be so sure. We have a history of making bad QBs look like pro-bowlers.

Never thought I'd see the day where Cassel would be an upgrade at Quarterback.....

This is weirdly similar to the Gabbert/Henne situation last year

Ponder has a fractured rib. If cassel plays well and the vikes win, it will be hard to justify putting Ponder back in.

The original Ponder is online.

Vikings are now a threat to win games at this point.

Cassel was Ponder before Ponder was Ponder? Shocked

At this point, I don't see a problem with it. I don't expect any improvement though from our passing game.

He throws his body around recklessly on a consistent basis. Provided he doesn't lose his job, he's probably going to miss a lot of games in his career.

I don't think Ponder is as bad as everyone thinks. He makes some hella bad decisions. But their offense moves. Although late against the Browns he couldn't hit the side of a barn. Regardless I think Cassell is a downgrade and their offense is going to get suffocated against Pittsburgh.

Matt Cassel's 60.5 QB rating vs. Pittsburgh is his worst vs. any of the 19 teams he's played at least twice. He'll start Sun. for #Vikings

Read this somewhere else:

All-Pro running back: Check
Questionable Offensive Coordinator: Check
Defense performing below their collective talent: Check
Matt Cassel: Check

Congrats, Vikings. You are now the 2012 Chiefs.

In all seriousness, this game could be ugly. I have the Steelers winning this.

Cassel is an upgrade on Ponder that's for sure. Still Pittsburgh's to good to fall to 0 and 4, I have them winning this game.
