Nate Burleson breaks his arm in car accident
Nate Burleson broke his arm in two places during an early Tuesday morning car accident.
Burleson was driving home after watching Monday Night Football with teammates when he was in a single-car wreck. Other than the arm, he's doing fine and police confirmed alcohol was not involved. We don't have a timetable yet, but fractured bones typically take 4-6 weeks to heal. Burleson is undergoing surgery Tuesday, suggesting the recovery period could be even longer. It's a huge blow to the Lions as their veteran ranked 21st in the NFL in receiving yards (239) and was tied for 11th in catches (19). Ryan Broyles was on a strict snap count in Week 3 thanks to his knee issues, but he'll be given every opportunity to run with the slot job now. If Broyles' knees hold up, he'll be capable of WR3 production in PPR formats. Patrick Edwards will also see a boost in opportunities if he can get over his ankle injury.

Per Rotoworld.

That really suck for the guy, broke his leg last year, too.

Burleson's stat line: 19rec 239yd 12.6avg 0td

Yikes!

Hope the guy is okay and recovers. Sadly, this might end up being the end of his career, seeing that he's 32 and declining.

His nickname is Mr. Glass Sad

Need Broyles and the tight ends to step it up but the Lions do not have a comparable replacement for Nate. Maybe time to make a trade.

Huge loss for the Lions. I have faith in Broyles in the future, but I don't think he's ready yet for the #2 WR role. They were going to ease him back from injury, but he's going to have to step up early.

Beyond that the Lions don't have much of anything at WR. They desperately need to get Reggie Bush back healthy, and I could see him getting some work out of the slot from time to time.

The Lions should also strongly consider making a trade if they have any hope of being competitive for the rest of the year on offense.

Glad for the NFL and the Lions that this seems to be a completely innocent incident, what else would you expect from Burleson though?

Hope he can make a full recovery and come back soon.

Awful news for the Lions offense. I know Calvin Johnson is a beast, but they need someone who is capable of doing damage opposite him. I wish Burleson a speedy recovery.

Tough loss for Detroit, maybe they make a move for Greg Little?

They sadly need a #2 and have for years. Broyles is beast in slot... But they need a #2 to take the top off.

while i know your joking but distracted driving is very dangerous. texting, eating, doing makeup, playing with the radio, etc all put the lives of others at risk. and there is little room for sympathy i have for people that do that.

not to get on a soap box but i really think its ridiculous how unaware the general public is of how dangerous driving is.

Agreed. Every car that passes you going in the other direction, is 3 or 4 meters away from ending your life. Driving is serious business.
