Record: 2-1

@

Record: 1-2

Game

Sunday September 29 @ 4:00 PM EST

Where

Why Important

This is a winnable game For both teams. This is a game that a playoff contending team "should" win. A win moves the Cowboys closer to separating themselves from the NFCE. A loss leaves the Cowboys at 2-2 and moves the Chargers into a stronger spot to contend for a wild card spot. The chargers have been giving up 27 PPG while scoring 26 PPG. The Cowboys have been averaging 28 PPG. So, don't be surprised to see a high scoring game.

However, Phillip Rivers has been playing better than any QB the Cowboys have faced so far this season. Phillip Rivers has been impressive. He's throwing for 266 YPG, 8 YPA, with 8 TDs and only 1 INT. Rivers hasn't been getting much help from the run game.

I expect both teams to air it out and bith QBs to throw for over 300 and 3TDs

The injury report should give us a good idea of where we stand going into this game. Hopefully Butler and Wright are good to play, but what really concerns me is the left side of the line. The Dunlap-Rinehart combo has been very good, and with Dunlap suffering a concussion in last week's game, we could see Harris going up against Ware. I'm also curious to see how severe the turf toe is on Rinehart, specifically if it keeps him out of practice or if the team jumps on signing another lineman (re-sign Molk, drop Credzon?).

We're probably left praying that the Cowboys shoot themselves in the foot, or we can win in a shootout. I have no reason to believe they won't do anything but leave a corner on Dez in single coverage with the single deep safety playing centerfield (like against DeSean Jackson). Hopefully we're pleasantly surprised and they go into the game with a plan to target that mismatch.

I'll put it this way. If Liuget and Reyes can't get some kind of push against Dallas' interior OL then we know we're in for a loooooong year on defense.

Interestingly enough, sd and dc are back to back in the list of teams on ff.com.

The end.

I think we can win this as long as the play-calling isn't as conservative as it has been. The injuries do scare me a bit though.

Hoping River's keeps his hot hands!

Not saying they can't (Poe got over half his sacks for the year on us), but this is not last year's interior line. They are much improved and Romo has not had to play greased pig in some time.

I have you guys winning the shootout on a late FG - thinking 34-31

The sad thing is I can't imagine our defense holding you guys to only 31 points. Laughing

I think for us to win this game there has to be a change in mentality from the coaching staff. Rivers loves this new system and is making audibles on at least half the plays. We just need to ride him and let him air it out 50+ times per game. We have players like Eddie Royal and Woodhead who can neutralize a pass rush by running quick routes.

Our defense is just too sorry to hang with a team like Dallas. We need to get a lead and not take our foot off the gas pedal.

Rivers is the conservative approach. Ben gets Bell back this week, but he's still saddled with Haley who he is obviously not on the same page as. So you'd be counting on things to either break down enough (or for the Steelers to get behind enough) that Ben just says "screw it!" and starts operating on the fly the same as he did Sunday night.

Rivers most likely doesn't light you guys up, and he's hasn't been a source for fantastic yardage this season, but he hasn't been making mistakes (the second half of Week 1 aside), he's being provided with quality YAC by his receivers, and he's finding his guys in the end zone pretty consistently.

I just found out my opponent is starting Rivers against me with Rodgers on bye (I suppose I should consider myself lucky to be facing the team with Rodgers when Rodgers is on a bye) and already has Gates.
Except, I'm not quite that careless - I'm half tempted to pick up Vincent Brown just to screw with her but we're limited roster space (3 bench spots and I've got Cobb on bye).
GO RONNIE BROWN! (because I have little to no faith in Mathews at this point!)

Poor Mathews. He's gonna wait until everyone of us loses faith in him and then bust an 80 yarder on us (only to fumble at the 1 and remind us why we hate).

Feel like most would be apprehensive to do this, but I completely agree. Running the ball as much as we do, as poorly as we do, puts huge pressure on Rivers to be phenomenal on third-downs (like an unsustainable, well-over 50% converted).

If he's not phenomenal on third-downs, then something like the Titans game happens. Which doesn't bode well for us since the Titans are well...the Titans.

I will be at the game Sunday with a ton of popcorn. I fully expect Dez Bryant to carry my fantasy team to a victory this week. I am expecting 70 points in this game as we play the Aircraft Bowl Game.
