The chance to land a back like AP, Edge, Faulk, Smith, LT, Jax and others is great as well though. The whole draft is a crap shoot. Pretty sure we can do that with any position.

Jamal Lewis was also worth a 1st round pick. We're talking about a 2k yard rusher.

Right, which is why I said unless it's Gruley (who I view as the next GREAT back), I would not personally touch any RB until round 3.

I really like Gurley and Hill as prospects so far. I'd like to so either in horns when they are draft eligible.

Thomas, while not exactly the type of back I think we need (got Richardson already), he is really intriguing.

Is the problem the running backs or the o-line? Serious question. I've only seen the Cards game so I don't have much to go off. Are the running backs just not hitting the holes or what?

Its a little of both. The O-line doesnt get the greatest movement, they are better in pass pro (which wasnt very good in Dallas) but thats because there was no running game. And also because out running backs arent the best at breaking tackles. I would say their vision is average at best but Richardson has pretty decent vision especially for a young player.

I'm not a big fan of any of the RB's in the upcoming draft. As for next years though, I like Gurley. Maybe this is a bad way of looking at things but I don't like taking running backs from Bama. Mark Ingram has been a bust. Trent Richardson is severely overrated so far and not nearly worth that top five pick (note I was a fan of his coming out). And I wanted nothing to do with Lacy. Bama always has a great offensive cast and more specifically a dominant O-line. Then they get to the nfl and don't do as much as expected. The jury is still out for lacy but I don't like what I see from him

I would have quickly said Yeldon had you asked last year, but I actually see some regression in his game this season. Maybe it has to do with the line not being nearly as elite. D.Thomas is very intriguing as that guy can simply fly and has open field ability similar to Austin. Would be a scary offense throwing him in there.

Really not interested in taking a back high this year either way though. Much bigger needs like tackle, CB, safety, OG, possibly QB.

The running game has suffered for 3 reasons in my opinion;

1-D. Richardson is an mediocre back, and he's the best we currently have on our roster. They all have time to grow still, but for now....

2-Our offensive line does not run block well, and it's not just the interior guys (guards and center).

3-Our propensity to put ourselves in poor down and distance because of penalties, and the fact that we have started all three games in big holes, contribute a great deal. We are never able to get a rhythm because of this. Rhythm is everything in the running game.

Can we get him and he leaves his fumbles in Philly? Dude seriously has a phobia of handling the rock he has to drop it it seems.
