Yay, another WR on the team, means even more playing time for Patterson....

Definitely means that Childs isn't coming back this season.

Weird move. Barely any room for our current receivers and he doesn't play special teams.

He is 6'6", so maybe a jump ball redzone option?

Could just be a protection move.
Want to protect a player who could make the 53 next season with additional improvements, coupled with if they move on from Simpson/Webb

The packers attempted to sign Tavarres King from Denver's practice squad and the Bromcos gave him a roster spot to not lose him. Maybe the Packers, or someone else had their eyes on Smith.

My thoughts exactly. He is a huge kid who has a lot of potential, this has to be a move where they are making sure that nobody else tries to snag him.

My best case scenario is to have a future WR group of Patterson, Childs, Smith, Webb, and Wright. That is very much wishful thinking, but I would be very happy if these guys all worked out well.

According to wikipedia, it's an area of northeastern France destroyed during WWI. Wink

I really like Smith's potential. I had hoped he'd make the final 53 man roster going into this season. I wonder if he'll get any playing time at all...

Vikings put Harrison Smith on IR/designation to return, re-signed Jacob Lacey, who was with them in camp. Lacey has same reps as Winfield.

Lacey plays mostly in the slot right? Audition to be that guy next year.

I'd love to see Rodney Smith become a star for us.

But, that's kind of a pipe dream...

At most, I think Smith would play a Webb role on offense. Run blocking, and a goal line target.

I like this signing. Hopefully he can show us something.

Im interested in seeing Lacey out there, I thought he was a solid signing for the slot CB spot but the injury derailed the start of his season. MN needs help majorly.

I doubt it. Patterson can't even get on the field.
