Small news but...

@TomPelissero: Andrew Sendejo's 2-year, $2M extension with #Vikings includes $200K to sign, $200K of 2014 base fully gt'd. Core special teamer.

Just noticed this was in the defensive thread, however with how many in season transactions happen, this would be a good place to find them all.

Should spell the end for Mistral Raymond. He has been inactive the first two games, I'm guessing because Robert Blanton and Sendajeo are better special team players.

Interesting deal though. I didn't even consider Andrew one of our best special team players.

Raymond has also been suffering from a nagging shoulder injury, which could also be part of the reason. If he were completely healthy, I think he'd be listed as active. His rookie deal runs through 2014, so I don't know if he's on the outs or not, but I personally don't believe Sendejo's contract has anything to do with the status of Raymond.

RE: Prior to Richardson Deal - Jason La Canfora

Quote:
Grigson and his staff re-watched film of about five players primarily, according to sources, as they devised a strategy. Richardson, the third-overall pick in 2012, was obviously highest on their list, but as they knew it could be difficult to land him, they did not focus solely on him. They also made overtures to Detroit about Mikel Leshoure (the Lions quickly rebuffed sources said) and to Minnesota about backup Toby Gerhart, who played for Indy's offensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton, at Stanford. Arizona's oft-injured Ryan Williams was another player they investigated.

Grigson told the Browns on Wednesday that he had a deal for another running back agreed to -- he declined to reveal to me who it was, though I tried like heck to get him to -- and that was not a bluff.

Almost called it Confused

La Canfora didn't do a good job fact checking. Gerhart never played for Hamilton... Gerhart's last season at Stanford was 09-10, Hamilton arrived as a receivers coach in 10-11, then moved to offensive coordinator for 11-12

Gerhart is a better player than Richardson, and probably could have been had for cheaper...

I'm surprised Rick didn't make something happen.

The article did state that they had a deal in place for another back before going back to the Browns, and also stated it wasn't LeShoure.

So perhaps...

Rather than play table tennis back and forth with claims as to who is a better player, please provide stats of both as NFL players.

Gerhart is playing behind the best RB in the NFL, so his status as a backup isn't what determines his value. If a team were inquiring about acquiring him, they obviously valued something he does. Whether or not Gerhart is a better overall RB than another RB requires something substantive to compare, not just claims.

Stats?
Stories?
Reports from pro scouts?
etc.
