That is an Oregon formation.

Many formations are Oregon. the RO is Oregon. Oregon does throw down the field but they also don't have a DeSean.

The actual pass patterns are mostly WCO-inspired (though apparently the playcalls are concept-based, like the Patriots, not West Coast). I can't speak to what Oregon does in the passing game, but the passing plays (package plays aside) are definitely pro-style.

They never confirmed that, just speculation. Chip wouldnt need Shurmur to be that one guy anyways.

You would think that as great as Oregon is, or was, they would have won something since they are so unstoppable. Or atleast everyone in the country wound be copying their schemes because they are so revolutionary.

Judging by the SD game probably not...

Who said they were unstoppable?

Lots of teams are using their schemes. TAM, Ole Miss, even UW now does uptempo.

Oregon hasn't had the players to compete TBH. Saban has had what 10 first round picks in the last 3 years. Oregon has had 2 and one was considered a reach. Oregon has had 2 first round picks in the last 5 years actually. That is less than Boise State. Until this past draft Oregon had no first round and only 1 second round pick since day after the 2008 draft. To say they haven't performed to their expectations would be completely wrong. QBs run teams and they have a current 4th+ round guy (if you listen to the draft forum which is lower than NCState has had the last 6 years). In fact until Marcus their last 2 QBs can't even make a practice squad. No WRs drafted since what 2005?

Oregon also has the 2nd highest win % in CFB since 2010. So to say that haven't won would be silly as well.

People use scheme concepts. As for the bolded, you can say that to about every coach not named Saban recently.

If you think this is the "Oregon" offense or a college offense you aren't watching the games. Do we use inside/outside zone schemes as our main runs? Yes. Do we use mostly shotgun? Yes. But the actual tempo and plays that the offense has been using is all pro style stuff. I wish we did more uptempo like we did the first game... Forget the D they will give up a ton of points anyways, we need to snap the ball faster.
What exactly is different? They do more RO than any other team did last year. They still go up tempo tho not fast enough IMO. Like I said Oregon doesn't do a read option every play. Chip still uses Combo plays like they do at many colleges. This is far more college than any team and far more college than many college teams.

Everything is different. Your first point is 100% false. We have run the Read Option at the most 5-7 times in one game. Most runs are simple inside/outside zone runs that look like read option, however if you look at the tape the blocking scheme is completely different for the two plays. They have hardly gone up tempo since Week 1. They still do no huddle, but the pace is not fast in any way.

We have seen TONS of corner routes by Celek and Ertz, those are classic WCO passing routes. We never see any triple option. We rarely use bubble screens. The Eagles offense is more based off of play action, where as Oregon's offense is a spead option attack that rarely throws the ball downfield.

If you don't see these obvious differences idk what game you are watching.

http://www.phillymag.com/eagles/2013/09/25/all-22-read-option-working-for-the-eagles/

Quote:
* The Eagles have run the read option 46 times in three games, or 22.4 percent of the time.

* On those plays, the offense is averaging 8.3 yards per carry (46 carries for 384 yards).

* Overall, the Eagles have run the ball 83 times (not counting QB scrambles). So the read option has made up 55.4 percent of the run game.

* Michael Vick has kept the ball on the read option just six times. But on those attempts, hes gained 119 yards for an average yards-per-carry of 19.8.

* Running backs have gotten the ball 40 times on the read option and picked up 265 yards for a 6.6 YPC average.

5-7 TIMES?

I would argue that those stats are 100% incorrect. A lot of people don't even understand what a read option even looks like compared to the zone read.

I wish I had the breakdown with me right now but if you look at the Offensive Linemen that Oregon recruited so many of those guys weren't even nationally ranked. These are their STARTING Olinemen. I want to say maybe only 1 out of 5 was ranked nationally and not very high.

And many of them werne't even ranked high in their OWN STATE and we're not talking power house states in High School football like Texas, Florida, Georgia, California, etc.

So when Oregon's offense got "shut down" vs superior opponents it's because they got dominated at the LOS with inferior players that Chip Kelly helped overachieve.

People are frustrated because Eagles are 1-2 but it's not because Chip Kelly's scheme isn't great. It's because they have turned the ball over 5 times and didn't get the bounces to go their way, like that bobbled ball by Henery vs Chargers and defense was atrocious overall.

No you're not going to score 40 points every game in the NFL, but Chip Kelly will have an elite offense in the NFL for years to come

And it's really too bad you guys don't have Maclin because that's probably at least another 7 points a game missing right there.

OK we get to watch the Eagles offense LIVE now. Is anyone still willing to claim this is the Oregon option offense?

As I type this, Vick's under center and ran play-action.

Was literally just about to post this. Laughing

If you have watched this game, you know how different our offense is from Oregon's.

Absolutely. If you're going to call this offense the same as the one Chip ran in Oregon, you can NOT be watching the games.
