I think we need a thread for the specific areas of concern on this team, and there's clearly a lot.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends: We are a team that needs to outscore our opponents to win, and we can't do that with a wide receiving core that is in my opinion, the worst in the league. I love Deseans rejuvenation this year, but he is not a #1 receiver in the league. Behind him, we have Riley Cooper, who is without even a shred of doubt the single worst starting receiver In the league. Behind the two starters, we have 3 slot guys, Jason Avant who is reliable but middling, and Jeff Maehl and Damaris Johnson, who haven't even proven to be NFL talents. At tight end, Celek is simply not a player who's going to beat any one 1 on 1, he has to be schemed open. Ertz and Casey were big time acquisitions, but both have been largely irrelevant. We've seen In the second half of the red skins game and tonight against the Chiefs, when Desean is taken out by the defense, the offense can not do anything. Vick simply had absolutely nowhere to go with the ball today, it was pathetic.

Mychal Kendricks: He is our worst starter on defense and needs to be replaced. He absolutely can not tackle, not a lick. Not once have I seem him actually break down and square on tackle a guy In the open field for no further gain. Every time he's in pursuit it seems he's out of control and at best manages to trip the carrier after 4-5 extra yards.

Post what else you think deserves to be on this list.

Tackling has been an issue for most of the defense for years now.

I think the most pressing issues are:

WR2/3 : Losing Maclin hurts but if Riley Cooper is really the best we can have on the field when we need some electrifying plays to be made than I don't have faith in group as a whole.

Defensive Play-Calling : Need's to be better, adjustments aren't being made when we are getting torched via the same style of dink and dunk offense. Also our blitz plays are being picked up very easily by teams, hence why we get really exposed with screen plays.

Safety : We need some aggressive guys down there, play the run hard, and attack the ball/receiver and make some plays. Eric Berry made a play and it got KC 6 points, our safeties would NEVER be at the level of the linebackers on any play, they are just back pedaling blindly.

WR
This is still Andy's receivers. Jackson isn't a #1. We need a #1. I mean a guy who will be there for the entire game. Jackson has been Houdini since he got here. Yeah, he's explosive, but imagine how much more productive he would be with a legitimate WR to play with?

We've been asking for a fast, strong receiver for a long time. I understand you can't just get that out of the blue. But some sort of effort needs to be made to upgrade WR.

QB
Vick is going to Vick. Fumbles, picks, sacks, bad reads, this is the Vick we knew would appear. Much like WR, the QBs are also basically Reid's leftover slop. Vick isn't the future. I don't know if Foles is any good.

S
We have no safeties right now. We need an upgrade at both safety spots.

I say we make a trade...if the Colts can send a 1st for a good player...why can't we?

Because it's not everyday teams just go around trading their 3rd overall draft pick from the previous draft Laughing

We're not trying to win-now. Why make a move during a down year? We knew a bad season was coming. We were sitting around during Fall and we knew Winter was looming.

If we give our pick away, we're giving away a really nice draft pick that we should KEEP.

I'd add Defensive Coordinator to the list.

WR - Mike Evans
S - HaHa Clinton Dix

Those are the answers.

As for defensive coordinating, I guess it can improve. History has shown that our defenses usually get better as the season rolls on, plus we have completely REVAMPED it from scheme to personnel

This. Hated the hire. Who thought the guy with a losing career and the LB coach for CLEVELAND would be good?

He has failed to adjust to the same exact thing three weeks in a row now.

Jizz in my pants, it's been a while since we actually had someone who has a resume and track record of feared defenses.

I understand giving Davis some time... and it's early, and it's a down year, and he doesn't have a roster that fits what he wants to do for the moment...

but he had red flags all over him. I don't care if it's a down year or he doesn't have the players for his defense. He has not adjusted at all to what offenses have done. Teams don't even try to pass over top. They run at our safeties, and do short dump-offs.

I hated the hire too. He was a really bad hire, he's under qualified and never did anything to suggest he deserved being a DC for us. He's just one notch below Juan Castillo in terms of under qualification.

I mean, it's not like we had a ton of qualified alternatives. We waited so freakin long to hire someone

Davis always felt like a one-year rental to me
