I really doubt they fire the DC after one season on a new regime.

And to add to the list of problems. Lane Johnson needs to get stronger right now.

I feel like Davis really sold himself to Chip. We waited a long time, but there are 31 other teams in the league, plus college... imagine the plethora of positional coaches with equally qualified resumes.

Rex Ryan could be the next defensive coordinator of the Eagles.

Quote:
Their fathers clashed in Philadelphia, but the kids were all right. The kids -- Rex Ryan and Tom Gamble -- soon could be working with each other. They met 20-plus years ago, when their dads ran the Eagles. Buddy Ryan was the coach, Harry Gamble the president. And there were plenty of fireworks.

I don't think it's impossible. If Billy Davis continues to struggle, I actually think it will be likely.

But the biggest problem right now, is the lack of home field advantage.

Time to acknowledge the fact that the fans that show up to the Linc have never been weaker.

Extremely embarrassed with what our home crowd has become.

Danger with Rex is whether he'll rest his ego for a DC job... under an unproven college coach. I feel like things could clash.

I also do not want a circus here.

I also don't want him leaving for a head coach job in a year.

I would welcome Rex with open arms.

The guy knows how to build a dominant defense.

The thing is that if we have a great defensive coordinator capable of winning us games with the defensive unit he puts together, he will become a head coaching candidate.

So whether that is Rex or Joe Shmoe won't really matter.

What matters to me is that a coach builds the unit and makes it great.

I understand giving Davis some time... and it's early, and it's a down year, and he doesn't have a roster that fits what he wants to do for the moment...

but he had red flags all over him. I don't care if it's a down year or he doesn't have the players for his defense. He has not adjusted at all to what offenses have done. Teams don't even try to pass over top. They run at our safeties, and do short dump-offs.

Yes to everything

No... Nooooooo. No. They all stunk up the joint.
Rivera/Ryan are probably the Best options. But Ryan might Be too much of a circus.

If Rex isn't picking a QB or thinking about feet, he doesn't bring the clowns.

If he's all about defense he should be successful.

Davis isn't the problem right now it's Fans thinking you can instantaneously turn a 4-3 defense in a 3-4 defense when that same 4-3 defense SUCKED last year as well. The only single defense I can recall that has made the change successfully over in a single year is Houston's when they brought in Wade Phillips! Other then that team I can't think of a single team that did not have major growing pains changing over personnel to fit the new scheme. The problem with Rex is that in no way , shape or form do I believe he would ever check his enormous ego at the door for Chip "unproven" Kelly. Not when in his own mind Rex believes he should still be a a HC with 10x the resume. No thanks. Spend the vast majority of your resources via FA/Draft on defense in 2014 and continue to build that 3-4 defense Chip and Billy envision. Way to early to be jumping ship IMO!
