BAL Ravens

Game info
Where: M&T Bank
When: September 22, 2013- 1:00 PM EST
TV: WJZ (CBS)

There are many storylines to choose from for this matchup with the Texans. All mentioned above in the poll.

The AFC playoff contenders outside of Denver haven't really made many statements this season. This matchup between the Ravens and the Texans might provide a bit of a statement for where both teams are and how dangerous they could be. The Texans might be without Andre Johnson and we might be without Ray Rice, so that could play a part in how this matchup shapes up. It'll be interesting to see if we pass more because of Pierce's durability questions, Rice's likely limitations, and how strong the Texans run defense can be.

It'll equally be interesting to see if our receivers can make plays considering every other offense that has matched up against the Texans secondary has been able to do so to this point.

We were blown out in our last matchup with the Texans last year and they've generally matched up quite well with us. In the past Arian Foster has tended to have some strong games against us, particularly in the second halves... this matchup should be our best test yet for measuring the effectiveness of our run defense.

With Ed Reed expected to return, does he pick off Flacco? Does Flacco gash the Texans secondary still. Does Bernard Pierce leap frog Ed Reed for a big play? What do you guys think?

Also, if anyone wants to make the GDTs in the future, just get them up BEFORE Thursday.

Else, I'll make them some time before the Thursday night game.

EDIT: Because I'm sure this GDT thread will get blasted for being as vanilla as...

.... Dean Pees defensive schemes. Razz

This a big opportunity to take the lead in the AFC North. The other three teams are facing some tough games against the NFC North this week and I would be surprised if any of them win.

I expect our defense to contain Foster and Tate on the ground, who haven't impressed me very much this season, which forces Schaub to throw... something we all should want with their LT, Brown, banged up and questionable to play while their RT, Newton, can't block Sizzle or Doom. And most of all, Schaub just doesn't me scare me.

We never play good against the Texans, and I don't expect that to change this weekend without a good running scheme and a vanilla defense.

Honestly I think Houston wins this game.

I don't feel confident at all in this game. I'm hoping AJ isn't passing his concussion tests, or else I think we're in for a good ol' fashion butt whoopin honestly.

But, since I never predict the Ravens to lose, I'll go with us pulling it out in the end...

Ravens 23
Texans 20

Justin Tucker GW 48 yard FG with 6 seconds left in the game.

If Dean Peas' scheme can hold the Texans to 20 points I would be ecstatic!

Texans don't impress me. It's a gazillion stretch plays and bootlegs off of and they looked awful last week until the very end when they got desperate and just let their playmakers make plays. Secondary is terrible. I would be really surprised to see them go into Baltimore and get a W.

Texans 17, Ravens 24

As long as the bootlegs have Flacco rolling left. Sigh... Not talking

And the stretch plays are actually just HB dives 90% of the time.

I just want this team to play like the game matters on both sides of the ball for 4 quarters. I'm tired of this going threw the motions feeling I've seen this team display this entire season. No sense of urgency too much smiling. I ain't panicking but show me something fellas. Get mad and remind the football world who we are. Man cause I don't know who I been watching.

Copy/paste mistake- didn't change it from the Denver game.

I mentioned that it was at the Bank' in the writeup.
