Za'Darius Smith, a junior DE for Kentucky, is listed at 6'6'' and 260 pounds. The highly touted JUCO transfer's 2013 is off to a blazing start. He has 14 tackles and 4.5 sacks through 3 games and has an exciting combo of size, burst, strength, and a motor that is always running hot. His tape shows 100% effort on every play, and when he gets a chance to really pin his ears back and get after the passer he can dominate.

He is incredibly raw though, and is just entering his 4th year playing football. That means the first time he stepped onto the field he was a senior in high school.

The guy is an elite athlete, though, with excellent size and the right mindset for his position. It's still early, but he may be that guy this year that comes out of nowhere and gets drafted in the top 10 for his measurables and flashes of dominance.

Za'Darius Smith plays for the Kentucky Wildcats. Quanterus Smith played for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Dan Kadar at "Mocking the Draft" has Smith ranked as his #2 DE prospect in the 2014 draft-eligible class.

This dude's draft stock has pretty much been doubling each game. Rightfully so. He is the 2014 version of Ansah, raw, but has incredible physical talent. There have been drives where he has looked literally unstoppable.

His combination of size, quick-twitch explosiveness, and power Shocked

Like Ansah, he will need to get better with his hand technique. He has serious potential though.

There's several guys like that. Same could be said about Arkansas' Chris Smith - he's not overly athletic, but he's effectively getting the QB with good release and good burst and violent hands, and is averaging over a sack a game right now good for the current outright lead in the SEC.

UK's games vs Bama and Tennessee will both be huge tests for ZD, and will be great games to gauge him.

We'll have to see, he really struggled against Florida who has OL with much more technically advances OT's, so i think he could struggle, but he still IMO is a very good prospect.

He's good when he players against future gym teachers.

Watch him against Florida. He was horrible. Truly horrible. He's a late rounder at best right now.

Dupree is the much better DE prospect.

Watching him against Louisville now. The thing I notice most is how often he quits on plays. Poor motor. Poor snap awareness. Not very strong and not a great athlete. He's always playing with his head down and really struggles at finding the ball. Also he has very lean and short legs.

Smith's production has fallen off since his incredibly hot start. He needs a Quanterus Smith type game against Bama (3 sacks against them in 2012) to really re-ignite the hype he had going for him.
