Pay the man. Don't even let him hit the market. He is emerging as one of the best defensive lineman in the league, let alone our best defender. Lets pay the man

I trust him. Condo, Jano, Reece... all locked up by Reggie this off season. I expect Houston to be next.

I think the core of our team going forward is going to be Veldheer, Wiz, Watson, Reece, Streater on Offence and Houston, Walker, Moore, Hayden, Branch on D, all those guys are already or will be signed up long term by Reggie I believe.

McFadden is an interesting one and a lot depends upon the season he has this year. If he flunks then he hits FA and if he hits his stride and gets to the Pro Bowl Reggie may not want to spend big on him given his injury history so he probably hits FA aswell. As obtuse as it sounds i can only see us resigning him if he has an average to above average season and only then at reasonable money. Unless he hits huge numbers his market will be smaller than anticipated IMO.

Don't expect him to be locked up, little incentive for Houston(and us) to sign a contract now. Unless we make him a very high offer.

This.

He can play out, have a big year and see what happens on the open market.

After seeing what a guy like Bryant made leaving Oakland, he has to like his odds.

He's gonna get a big deal and Reggie is the one who is going to give it to him. I think Reggie wanted to keep Bryant but knew we couldn't, not this year but next year Raiders have no reason not to pay Houston.

BP hit it on the head. Houston had to love Bryant's deal and his chance to beat it this next year. Wheeler also gave hope to 1 year prove it deals for FA's to come here. Wheeler was decent but GOT PAID!!!
Houston will probably get a counter offer and then we'll see if he wants to stay or go.

He'll be a Raider, Bryant was an easy let go considering we knew double nina's was gonna need to get signed. Houston will have a very nice year and I'm confident he'll get PAID CAKE & it'll be worth it bc that guy is a football player........wouldn't be surprised if the guy out of nowhere pulled a Charles Johnson from Carolina on the NFL Laughing

Houston & JV are two guys who will be worth every penny.

Good move by McKenzie, sign him up before he gets 10 sacks and is at the peak of his percieved value. If we wait till the end of the season his cost will double! Houston strikes me as a committed and loyal guy so we'll see if he's willing to do it now, if not then i guess he's looking for big bucks from anywhere he can get it.

Why is it not an incentive for us to lock him up now? If he hits the open market, he is very likely as good as gone...

Houston is exactly the type of player RM says he wants on this team. Hopefully he can actually get this done & we can keep him here long term. JV should be next.
