I think different coaches have different methods of dealing with the media and with their players. I personally love the old-school approach by Tomlin and Coughlin.

I enjoy when coaches "tell it like it is." I have much more respect for someone that will say we were terrible and what we put on the field today was garbage. We know we need to get better and we will.

A coach doesn't necessarily have to call out certain players. (although I don't have a problem with that.) The "everything is great" approach is completely annoying. I also believe it reflects on the players. It seems like the players of Tomlin, Coughlin, and the Harbaughs will take their verbal beating and take it out on the opposition.

Speaking of press conferences, the coordinators typically make themselves available once a week, and today happens to be the day. The video isn't available yet, but some of the media are tweeting quotes and highlights.

From Norv:
Quote:
Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 2h
# Browns OC Norv Turner said there were a lot of one-man breakdowns vs MIA, not always Weeden's fault.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 2h
# Browns OC Norv Turner said he wants RB Trent Richardson to get more than 20 carries.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 2h
# Browns OC Norv Turner said we're working on getting Weeden to play faster. Said he played fast enough sometimes & not fast enough others

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 2h
# Browns OC Norv Turner said a couple of Weeden's throws were hard & fast but our guys know if the ball is coming at you, you need to catch

From Horton:
Quote:
Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said looking back at # Dolphins game, he wishes he would've done something to help CBs Owens and Skrine.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said he would take back the call he made on Brian Hartline's out-and-up route that went for 34-yd TD if he could.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said D's performance was not quite good enough. Said he would've been satisfied if it had held # Dolphins to 9 pts

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said this will be big week for Kruger going against former team in BAL. We need him to play well. He's very, very good

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said "we're going to ease" rookie OLB Barkevious Mingo in vs. # Ravens. It'll be what he can handle.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said DE Desmond Bryant was dominant up front vs. # Dolphins.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said he would like more CBs, just he would like more OLBs, DL.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @ NateUlrichABJ 1h
# Browns DC Ray Horton said being without DE Rubin (calf) hurts because he's a good player. But confident D has good replacements.

I thought this was diplomatic but didn't leave much doubt as to where to place the blame:

“When the ball comes to you and you get your hands on it, you catch the football. When we’re throwing the ball over the middle, we’ve got to keep it down so the ball doesn’t get batted in the air where they get a chance.”
