At least with the team falling apart Dre is stilling putting up big numbers

He is now just 780 yards away from 13,000, that's 130 a game the rest of the season, not impossible but unlikely. He is on pace for another 1500 yard season

As long as Keenum is at QB Wink (although more than half of AJ's yards came today with Schaub.... I don't think they are on the same page)

It's sorta obvious that's the way he feels right now.

Looks like something will happen next offseason.

That piece is pure speculation based on his comments after yesterdays game ("I'm still under contract") and Johnson's contract numbers. There is nothing out there that would suggest any interest from the Texans in cutting or trading Andre.

I get that, but he's not going to keep up this production forever and soon his production won't warrant a 15 mil cap hit. So, I'm sure he'll be asked to take a paycut is his production slows.

Honestly Andre could put up 1500 yards every damn year. Do you people even see the way he plays? He doesn't rely on his athleticism AT ALL. The dude is a straight up technician when it comes to playing the wide receiver position. That's why every time I see the "Andre's getting older" comment, I chuckle. He still has a good 2-3 years of dominant seasons.

Obviously this is purely hypothetical, but if we were to trade AJ what could we realistically get in return? A 3rd, maybe a 2nd at best? I think he might have 2-3 more very productive years in him. Surely we'll be getting a whole new coaching staff at the end of this season and I'm thinking although it's possible to get be a contender next season (see the Kansas City Chiefs) it's not real likely. I think it's more likely that we're rebuilding for at least 2 yrs., maybe more, and hate to waste any more of AJ's dwindling career on a rebuilding team. I think it would be nice to trade him go to a contender so that he could at least have a shot at a ring.

A 2nd would be the best we could expect I feel.

I'd take a few years of 'Dre instead of another wasted pick in the mid-early rounds.

I forsee a similar scenario to the Gonzo trade to Atlanta a few years back.

If we were to trade AJ one benefit would be the cap space, although I'm not aware of the actual figures in terms of savings and hits.

If we trade/cut Andre next year, the cap savings would be minimal (~500k) unless we do it after June 1st allowing us to split the dead money over 2 years. Unless Andre requests a trade, I don't see the Texans having any motivation to make a move. He's still worth his contract and is the face of the franchise.
