Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans

Last week: The Titans dominated the Steelers en route to a 16-9 victory.
The Texans snuck past the Chargers behind a ridiculous penalty on a field goal attempt that led directly to four points. Possibly the worst win in the NFL in the last decade. Arguably the worst win in the history of sports. They should probably just forfeit this game as a result of getting the win on Monday.

23-17 Titans

Between their late night West Coast game, comeback win, and playing us, who I feel is an extremely physical team on both sides of the ball this season, will lead to our wearing them out in the late 2nd half.

Sadly I don't see us winning and I hope I'm wrong like I was last week.

Texans - 20
Titans - 13

I'm slightly optimistic after last week. I'm gonna say....

Titans - 20
Texans - 17

Any chance Fat Albert could come out of retirement for this one game? Schwab would need a depends undergarment getting off the bus at reliant stadium. Twisted Evil Laughing

Cover the RB's out of the backfield, and double AJ. Easy win if that happens.

I think as long as we keep with bringing the heat we have a chance to win. Heck, even last season we were effective blitzing. Our linebackers can MOVE. Zach Brown had an almost perfect game last week in both coverage and rushing the passer. With Ayers getting a bigger work load and Williams influencing the D scheme, our D has the tools to show up week in and week out.

Your failure to mention the Tight End position is similar to how our defense fails to cover the Tight End position.

If our D plays like it did last week, we win. And it won't be close.

But after seeing how bad the defense was last year, I'm cautious to think it can be so dominant yet again.

Owen Daniels is going to own our LBs. Unlike the Steelers, the Texans have a strong ground game. Schaub is respectable. This is going to be a Titan loss. Texans will take the division, again.

The most intriguing thing about this week for me is watching the battle of Warmack and Watt. I want to see if Warmack can back up his talk. Also hope that Locker can go out and not turn the ball over. If the defense can come out and play like they did last week, this will be a very winnable game.

It all comes down to Jake Locker. Does he look like the Jake Locker that connected on several key third downs or the Locker that doesn't set his feet and errantly tosses the ball... who knows where?

I'm going to predict that our defense doesn't look nearly as good as it did last week. We don't let them run the ball well but they rack up some yards passing.

We are able to run the ball and Locker looks average but it isn't enough to overcome the Texans offense.

Very true. Lets be serious, the Texans are loaded with weapons.. it's not just "stop x, double y and we win" unfortunately. On top of that, the defense is stout and you know they're going to be chomping at the bit to show they're better than that display on Monday night. This is going to be a tough game, especially going into a loud, hostile, rivalry game environment for the second week in a row but again, I have faith.

As far as the game plan, I think we need to focus more on Owen Daniels than Andre to be honest. You have to give AJ respect but you also have to concede that eventually, whether you like it or not he's gonna make some grabs. I'm not sold on Hopkins or the other WRs on their roster yet, so that makes stopping Daniels even more important. One big thing I noticed last night was how much they're lining him up out wide and in a flex TE/slot position. IMO, they're helping us if they continue to use him in that fashion because we're much better in coverage on TEs when they're off the line. I'm worried about Daniels when he's coming off the line, getting a chip on the end and settling in a soft zone in the middle of the field or finding the seam. I'm sure there's going to be a huge emphasis this week on containing their backs, as well as generating similar pressure to what we had against Pittsburgh to try and break up the timing between Schaub and AJ, but I won't be shocked if during the week we're hearing guys talk about taking away the middle of the field and Owen Daniels. It's imperative and if we don't I can see him putting up video game numbers and possibly being the reason why we don't hang.

Let's hope we can maintain the energy and intensity and go into a divisional rivals building and dominate again. I do believe it starts from up front, so stuffing the run and their two talented backs will be important as well but when you're playing the Texans it's pretty much pick your poison. We're going to have to be sound on all three phases of the game and preferably not start down 2-0 three seconds into the game.

Titans 24-20.
