Time of possession:

The Titans: 34:01(Texans lead the NFL last year with 33:46 ToP per game)
The Steelers: 24:59

THAT is winning football. Last year? We were last in the NFL with 27:41 ToP per game.

No surprise. TOP is one of the most important stats in any game. You win that and the turnover battle, more than likely your going to win the game.

God I missed power football. But really, it all comes down to the defense getting off the field on 3rd downs after that long first drive.

We had 37 rushes, in addition to Locker's 5 scrambles. Only 20 pass plays. As mentioned above, we have to win TOP in order for our team to win. This is our path to victory this season - Ground and pound the rock, eat clock, and stout, domineering defense. Really gotta improve our 2.7yds per rush average, though.

Related to TOP, the snap-count numbers are interesting to follow (here from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/53714/titans-snap-report-who-played-how-much).

Obviously always good to see offense getting more snaps than the D - sustaining long drives on offense and getting 3-and-outs on the other side. Will be an interesting breakdown to watch as the season progresses. Passing game will have to start showing up, but overall a positive trend to start the season.

We got 2.7 YPC and they knew we were not going to pass it. YPC doesn't look as sexy when you don't break any long runs.

They were stacking the box and had 9 people at least commiting to the run before a handoff was even made. In order to improve on our YPC we need to start working in some PA passing.

Also the Steelers are one of the best D's in the league. We picked up the important first downs when needed.

The Eagles are putting on a clinic for sustaining a drive, pounding the ball and wearing out a defense. That's the kind of offense I'd like the Titans to have. 26+ rushes in the first half, more than 100 yards rushing.

I'm okay with that. I was all about it when we had Lendale rushing for 3.0 yards per carry with that stout Defense. I think that was 2007. LOL he barely had over 1,000 yards at the end of the year. I didn't care though, we chewed clock, Bironas hit his 4-5 FG's and the defense held their ground.
