Ups

1. Ravens lost
2. Bengals lost
3. Browns are about to lose.
4. Ben looked solid when given time.
5. Defense had it struggles but should still be real good when/if offense can contribute.

Downs
Everything else.

Coaching was laughable.
Still lacking a pass rush and no splash plays.
Injuries
Officiating...sucked for both teams.

Everything else. Thats all I can say.

I think our offensive line was also awful which had an obvious impact on our running game. If you could even call it that.

Jarvis Jones needs to be the clear starter. Worilds not showing enough to not be giving JJ more experience.

I missed the game but what exactly happened? Did the coaching staff not prepare the team? Any injuries? With a loss like this again to a weak Titans team should Tomlin be on the hot seat?

Jones also clearly outplayed Worlids in both the preseason and this first game.

Worlids is a situational backup, and not even a good one.

Up
1.) LaMarr Woodley played as if it were 2010 again...
2.) Troy Polamalu played tremendously
3.) Cincinnati lost
4.) Baltimore lost in even more embarassing fashion than we did...
5.) Maurkice Pouncey's value will be proven to the league

Down
1.) David DeCastro. Absolutley no excuse for that cut block... Even if he connected with the Titans player it would've been a penalty!
2.) Ramon Foster/David DeCastro... Yes David... You get 2 mentions... You'd figure you'd feel so bad about what you did that you would play at an amazing level. No intead you let the A-Gap get destroyed all game.
3.) Mike Tomlin... Whining about an obvious DPI on Ryan Clark. Instead of whining, which your players were doing today, you should have been coaching...
4.) Isaac Redman. You arguably could be first dude... 2 Non-Contact fumbles especially the one in the redzone....
5.) Todd Hailey... Simply because I don't think you called a terrible game but when Ben went no huddle after the Pouncey injury he was a better playcaller than you.

I only really care about Cortez Allen right now. That's a blow to the defense. Didn't allow a reception.

Only positive I have is AFCN is winless. Going into Cinci on MNF right now, though?

Honestly outside of that untouched pop in the backfield it's not like Jones was amazing... Now Worilds got a pressure and that was probably his cieling but Jones wasn't a world beater... The only difference between the two was the effort given...

Foote out with a biceps? Time to sign Larry Grant? I know he has a 4 game suspension but still better than our backups...

his hit would have been legal. But it really was a dumb move seeing how pouncey had him stood up and turning already. the worst thing about this is that our linemen have been hurting each FAR to often the past few years.

Quote:
But not all chop blocks are illegal. On running plays, offensive linemen can go high-low. The NFL rulebook gives three such situations. Two offensive linemen who had lined up next to each other on the line of scrimmage may chop a player whenever they'd like. Two offensive linemen who had lined up with one or more linemen between them—e.g., a center and a tackle—can chop a player, too, so long as the play is moving toward the block. For instance, a right tackle and a center can chop a defensive end on a run to the right, but not on a run to the left. Backs can chop in concert with linemen, too, so long as the block takes place outside the tackle box.

1. All 4 AFC North teams lost (yes..unfortunately that includes us but 3/4 of them make it an up)
2. The Passing game looked solid, not perfect, but solid, outside of some lazy drops, it had several big plays(just not big enough). My only complaint is that Wheaton should've seen more time.
3. The defense looked very good, not great, but very good despite being on the field 85% of the game.
4. Mesko did a great job punting the ball.
5. Suisham did his job on the onside kick.

Downs

1. Coaching -- First of all, Redman should've been taken out after the second series, it was clear by that point, he isn't the guy.

2. Redman -- see above, Redman isn't a speed back, I don't understand why he insists on trying to be one and trying to spin and juke. Find the hole and run through it.

3. The Offensive line. See above. Very few holes for the Running Backs to run through, they're out there injuring their teammates again, such as Pouncey, who will be put on IR now, and they are going to get Ben hurt. Foster, Gilbert, and Whimper need to go..

4. Jason Worilds -- the man is garbage. Big whoop he got 5 sacks as a back up.. good for him, as a starter, he is absolutely pathetic, it's time to give Jarvis the Job.

5. Injuries -- Seriously..we can't make it through one week without 4 players getting hurt?

6. Dropped Passes -- Yes, I said our passing game looked great and I think it did but at the same time, Sanders had several drops, even if they weren't credited as drops, Howling had a drop that hit him right in the chest, so did David Johnson.

7. Redzone Offense -- Could you BE more terrible at this?

8. Markus Wheaton - I don't feel that he did anything wrong, he should've been on the field more, especially when they were trying to fade the ball to Cotchery.

9. Returners - Why the crap is our starting Wide Receiver returning punts? SERIOUSLY?!!

10. The crowd -- I know it didn't grow great, but 1) show up on time to the game 2) Make some noise and prove you're in your own stadium. (yep, we had a bad week so you get complained about too, you're not special this is Pittsburgh people!)
