NFLN says Ponder sat down with Spielman twice and was told: "sink or swim" and that he has to earn job back. Ponder was receptive. #Vikings

Tough love from the GM.

It's official that the man who drafted him has 0 faith. Nice.

I said it a couple of times during the year, and it might still be true: Ponder is the best QB on this roster.

He might be right now since Freeman doesnt know the playbook yet. However, if Freeman is able to pick it up, I think its clear he has shown much more than Ponder through there early careers.

It is still true.

it sucks he had to lose his job because the coaches are clueless, the defense loses us games, and he got hurt.

There is no question Ponder is the best QB on our team. Realistically though his only shot at playing again for us this year is if Freeman gets hurt. We can't bench him.

I kinda feel like a Browns fan debating who's better between Weeden and Campbell.

The only difference between being the degree of suckage.

So, what will Frazier do when Ponder performs next Sunday as he did the last time against GB?

Conveniently Freeman's concussion will still be looming around and when Ponder stinks it up against Dallas, Freeman will be ready to go and he will be the starter again.

Sorry for being so negative today, but this is ridiculous.

Unlike most, I am very interested to see how Ponder responds now that he will get another chance after how he was treated. I would love to see him come out with a major chip on his shoulder. Though if the O-line keeps stinking it up, none of that will matter.

Just playing devil's advocate here, don't forget that the Vikings had the 5th rated offense in terms of scoring for the first 3 games this year. You know the same three games that Ponder was the starting QB.

Despite his play I would love for him to perform well and bounce back and be the future of the vikings. As a vikings fan I wan every member of the team to succeed. Can't see that happening though.

Does that include special teams, defensive scores and Peterson ripping off 60 plus yard tds?

All I have to say is this: there was A TON of talk criticizing Ponder and his ability to get the team in the end zone and settling for FG in the first 3 games. The last two games with Cassell and Freeman the team has 3 scoring drives total. Taking away the Patterson KO return, the Robison fumble recovery and Peterson's 78 yard run, the Vikes had 12 scoring drives in the first 3 games.
