Clowney will be the pick, we released the hint that we were considering Manziel just to see if a team like the browns would bit on a trade

Unless we get blown away, and by blown away I'm thinking falcons give us thier 1 and 2 this year and a 1 and 3 next year, we will be staying put

There are some senerios where we trade back to 6 and Mack makes it to them

1. Clowney
2. Robinson
3. Bortles
4.Manziel
5. Watkins

Or Clowney, Robinson, Manziel, Matthews, watkins(in no order)

There is also the possibility that the raiders take Evans if Watkins goes to the Jags.

It would be a steal but it's not an unthinkable idea. There seems to be 4 elite players in Clowney, Mack, Robinson and Watkins with Bortles and Manziel being wildcards simply because they play QB...and then you have Matthews who has value because he is a LT and like QB they hold positional value that elevates personal talent.

If we really think that Mack would be there at 6, we have to make a trade with Atlanta even if its not the best value in return.

The problem is if you get stuck drafting there and Mack is gone, but odds are we have our choice of QBs or the 2nd best tackle or WR it's a good place to be.

When your worst case senerio is the have the best o-line in football or best WR core in football, is it really that risky?

Here is how I see this draft, we need a franchise QB. We don't have a legit QB on the roster. We have the number 1 pick. iF there is a guy we feel can be a franchise QB in this draft and we don't come away with our #1 QB then this draft is a failure. If we think its Tom savage or Logan Thomas and can get them in round 4, but if we don't get our #1 guy it's an epic fail.

Another board that I read has a guy saying his grandparents are part of the Texans ownership group and they've been informed Clowney is indeed the pick unless they get blown away by a trade offer.

Just passing along information, no need to shoot me.

Not going to shoot you, just the message. As quiet as they've been about that pick, I don't think they're telling anyone that's not actually in the planning room who they're picking. They can't take the chance that info slips out and changes trade offers. I'm not saying that Clowney's not going to be the pick, though I hope it's not, just that I have trouble believing this story. Could be true, but I'm not buying it.

The guy before Smith who made the Williams pick said on NFL network that they informed everyone on the ownership group of the Williams pick a week before it was made, so I'm sure they informed them, whether they leaked that info to grand kids idk

Regardless of what the media draft experts might say Bridgewater is not falling to the 2nd round, and Verrett is ranked #26 overall and the 4th best CB in the draft, no way he falls to the 3rd round. I really like the Fido pick in the 4th though.

I know it's not quite the 2nd round, but if you ready Lance Zierleins twitter from this morning, you'll see he's hearing Verretts medicals are dropping him

Edit: Injury history, torn labrum, torn meniscus in right knee and arthroscopic on his left.

Don't like the Clowney pick at all. He'll be more like Mario Williams than Demarcus Ware. I'd say trade down.

Quote:
Citing "word on the street," ESPN's Ed Werder reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that the Texans are asking the Falcons for a Robert Griffin III-like trade haul to get from No. 6 overall to No. 1.
In 2012, the Redskins sent the Rams three first-round picks and a second-round pick to jump from No. 6 to No. 2 overall, where they drafted RG3 behind Andrew Luck. The move made more sense with Washington pursuing a quarterback. Clowney has a chance to be great, but even if he has a Hall of Fame career, would not offer the impact of a franchise quarterback. Per Werder, the "dialogue" between the Texans and Falcons is "legitimate, and continues as we speak."

At this point im pretty confident that Clowney goes #1 overall. Whether he remains the Texans pick is up in the air. I think its either Clowney, Mack, or Manziel, all of which i can live with.

How does everyone here feel about Mack? I personally would take him #1, I like him over Clowney. Fits perfect on your defense too.
